I want to have my stock 16' cross lace wheels powdercoated mirror black on the face with a translucent gold lip where it was polished. Here is an example of what I am talking about let me know what you think. They will be going on black 91 gta trans am.

I would guess it might be overkill on the gold look. Why not try one wheel and lightly spray gold paint over the polished lip. It should come off easy if you wax the lip first. This way you can get a better idea of what the finished wheel might look like. You could also use photobucket, and take a picture of the wheel on the car and color it in.

i would photo chop it first, sounds cool to me though. as long as it isn't tacky gold.

I would think it would look better with the whole wheel powder coated and then just some gold rim tape or something around the lip.

What color(s) is the GTA?
If it's a black and gold car, it might look good. I think I'd have to see a photochop first though....

Its a black car and to the RICE comment I know the wheel I used for an example is RICE but I'm not ready to write off the cross lace wheel as RICE either.
I'm still in tha planning stages and want something different and am open to suggestions I stil have to go to the powdercoater and view the colors too.

I would definitely go for it. On black that would look very unique. Gold/bronze wheels are underestimated. My next car will have them

Afraid to think outside of the box?
Jim, I took the liberty to do a photoshop of the idea. The gold/bronze may not be perfect but I tried to get it as close as possible to the GTA badges of this random picture I found on Google. I also lowered it a hair ;)

looks great if you match the gold with the badges. maybe even the bird on the hood in gold. or is that more second gen?

Thanks Alex that helps alot. My other idea thats factory looking unique and cheap is to put a powerbulge hood on it and put the 82-84 hood bird in a reflective black vinyl so it glows gold at certain angles.

After seeing pics, I think the black/gold looks great!
Good idea for the powerbulge hood and decal too.

You have to tie the gold rims with something else on the wheel such as the the black center cap with the gold bird on the insert. Also painting the calipers gold might be a nice touch. If you check out the 10th Anniversary Firehawk or the Hurst special edition you'll get an idea of how the gold accents affect the entire car.

i totally agree. not with gold calipers though. but like gold lug nuts and a decal on the center cap as well as some stuff on the car. that would look great!

Thanks for the feedback guys and that second photoshop too. I know the emblems are gold and I know there are going to have to be other accents on the car to make the gold work and I think the lugnuts and centercaps are a good idea but with the crosslace on the car you can't see too much of the brakes. I know the 10th anniversary hawks also had gold tips but on this car I want to have turn downs and not have any tips visible. The hurst bird had a gold center section of hood which I am doing in a different way. Also I am going to tint the sidemarkers and rear tail lights except the red light bar across the top. Any other ideas or comments please post up.
