I finally got my car painted so im happy. The color is like a dark metallic pearl red
and considering the lighting it will be darker or lighter. It changes colors all day haha

Nope, never been in that store, I guess they all look the same, lol. 7+ years with them, mostly in Freehold, but spent varying amounts of time in West Orange, Oakhurst, Ocean (now closed), Hazlet, Point Pleasant, Bordentown, Hightstown (the old one on 33), East Windsor, Hamilton, Jackson, Monmouth Junction.

I had to look at their store list online to remember them all.

GTA rims would sharpen it up for low $$. I like 3rd gens

Is that a black 4th gen on the other lift?

ok so lets tackle this rim issue right now....i got these outlaw IIs at a junkyard 3 years ago so i cant complain but im looking to replace them so im open to all suggestions...

im trying to think of what the gta wheels would look like...also i have 295/50R15s in the rear so i need a rim big enough

also get some bumper black on the car, i think it would really make it look nice. the paint looks great!

GTA rims are 16s....you should be able to do 255/50/16s in the back, with 245/50/16 in the front.

I suggest those as they are relatively inexpensive. Black ones would look good, but you can paint the mesh part any color you'd like. that gray steve painted his jeep wheels would be sweet. clean & prep real well yourself and some rattle can and you're good to go.

Even a 16" Formula Turbine wheel would work well with the car. I'm a huge fan of GTA Cross Lace wheels on 3rd gen birds in gold & black which both would work well with that color. Or if you had a little extra coin to spend, a pair of silver painted 17x9 ZR1's would look spectacular.

+1 on the Formula rims. -1 on chevy wheels on a pontiac.

Looks good, where did you have it painted?

I had a lot of compliments on my car when I had Cragar S/S wheels. This is the only pic I could find of it with them on.

I actually got this done at maaco cuz i got connections with head guy at that shop so he took care of me...its not a perfect job but for the price i got im still doing back flips.:-P

I wanted metallic red because the original fire engine red was just tired so i wanted something different...and with the silver flake in the paint, the color will go from orange to dark red all day

i was thinking along the lines of aftermarket as far the wheels go. Im looking at some A.R. rims but i dont know if i wanna go black or chrome...leaning more towards the black

although i do have ugly rear drums which need to be converted to disk so i dont wanna be too too revealing

Paint looks good!

For the rims, I'd say black chrome the centers and polish the lips on a set of the WS6 laced rims that Justin posted.

thanks guys i appreciate the kind words...its not perfect but im happy for now...

im looking at these wheels right now
http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/WheelCloseUpServlet?target=runWheelSearch&initialPartNumber=105M7861BML&wheelMake=American+Racing+Vintage&wheelModel=Torq-Thrust+M&wheelFinish=Black+w%2FMach+Lip&showRear=yes&selectedRear=105M7861BML&autoMake=Pontiac&autoModel=Firebird&autoYear=1986&autoModClar=&filterSize=All&filterFinish=All&filterSpecial=false&filterBrand=All&filterNew=All&sort=Brand

now why can i only find wheels in the vintage series that fit my car? whats the difference between that and the muscle series and is there anything i can do to combat that factor?

how about some hot wheels 68 models? the black with machined lip would look very nice.

I agree the diamond spokes (what everyone is calling cross lace) would look best. The color choice should match other colors on the car. If the interior is black, do that for the wheels. If you plan to replace any of the emblems, then color match those.

Look for listings with "GTA wheels" or "diamond spoke" or "third gen trans am wheels" in the description. Be careful though, the late 3rd gen TA wheels look a lot like the diamond spoke wheels, but at 15" and have no polished lip.

www.thirdgen.org (http://www.thirdgen.org) may be one of the better places to look, or just post up a WTB listing here.

Those would be imitations.....the factory wheels haven't been available new for some time.

You can usually find a good used set between 200 and 300.
