I let a drive my car last night, and he deiced to get throttle happy. Well he ended up putting us into the woods at 70+mph after hitting a wet spot...The car cut down 2 trees and wrapped around a third tree

broken nose, fractured nasal bone, sinus bleeding, head trauma, lacerations to the head, arms and legs.

I'll have pics of the poor car tomorrow.

I'll say this to every person...its easy to forget the smell of a late summer rain...or how privileged we all are, to have people to talk to, to have each other, and to just make it to the next moment alive. I came closer to death than I ever expected. I was passed out in that car for over an hour. At this point I feel so privileged just to be breathing right now. Few of you can understand this on the level I now do...and I hope to God the rest of you never will have to. All I'm saying is live every moment as if it was your last, pass up no opportunity and live with out regret. You never know when somebody else's mistake can end you. I was uncontentious for an hour and 20min, and nearly drown to death on my own blood. I feel like I have been given a second chance to live my life righteously and to make the right decisions. I don't care how retarded it may sound, but this morning events have changed me forever. I hope all you young one take this, a stupid mistake, as a lesson and I hope you never have to go through what I am now

glad to hear your ok man, deff a scary experience...how is the driver doing? banged up as well?

bubba428
08-10-2008, 01:57 PM
no not really...minor concussion, cut on his leg, and a 86 bird wheel in his chest. the driver is doing good.....when I came to he was hunched over with blood running down his face. I thought he was dead...I can't get the image out of my mind. that was the single worst part. such a gruesome scene, neither on of us should be alive.

Dam! Glad to hear you guys are not worse off. It doesn't take much in bad conditions with these cars so you really have to pay attention all the time. My drive home from the Nats was interesting in the rain. Just letting the clutch out would cause the rear to spin and kick out. Hope you get better soon but I have a bad feeling about that nasal injury. Good luck!

Mike it might, the police were threating to blame me as the driver because he wasn't with the car when they got there. The office was in my face calling me a liar and as I'm trying to explain what happened he kept telling me to shut up...the they didn't even take BAC or blood work from either one of us at the hospital, nor did they breath test us. So I think he may have screwed up. As far as recovery I've always been a fast healer so i should be good within the month

As for the car its easier to fix and less damaging then broken bones and a life. Feel lucky for yourself and you friend but more importantly that no one else was in the way of the wreckage.

yeah, i think your friend is screwed. and the cops did mess up not getting your BAC, or his - so at least he's got a hope. gotta love cops, man, you just went through the most harrowing experience of your life and he's in your face calling you a liar. unfreakingbelievable.

on the bright side, the nose will heal and it looks like you won't have any major scars. and you get to live. i know how close you came, having been there twice before in my life. and you'll get over the image you had when you woke up, too. :D

brp88gta
08-11-2008, 04:34 PM
i agree that you will get over the image but it does take some time. i was in a very similar crash about 2 years about. out of 4 of us i was the only one consious. once the two people in the front woke up, i looked next to me and saw my buddy just sitting there hunched over with blood pouring from his head, thought he was dead. got medivaced out and is ok now but i know how an image like that can stick in your head and send chills down your spine when you think about it. dont worry that will fade away with time. i hated driving with other people for a good while after that but that fades away too, but it defintly made me smarter as to who i let drive me around. im glad to hear you guys are ok and hope everything works out. time will heal everything

These were taken in November of last year - The accident happened EXACTLY a year ago yesterday and I'm STILL feeling the pain from it in my heart nd also physically. You never realize how lucky you are until you take a look after the fact and realize everything you have in your life that you are thankful for. This happened at 45mph - I was hit HEAD ON. Airbag deployed and being I'm short I was instantaneously smacked in the face (at 90mph) - Suffered severe whiplash as well as burns from the airbag to my face, neck and arms. And I was thrown into the dash ( I DID have my seatbelt on) nd they placed me on crutches for 3 weeks (although they wanted me on them for longer, I felt I was alright to walk).

Your lucky Bubba. I hope for a speedy recovery for you.

yeah bubba billy meant the same thing as you, the uni-body is meant to buckle at certain points throughout the car to absorb as much as possible, its common to see a f-body or mustang with roof and rear floor ripples after a front end hit

08-12-2008, 04:45 PM
holy **** dude!

jims69camaro
08-12-2008, 04:57 PM
yeah, the way the unibody is constructed, all of the forces from a crash go around the driver's compartment, not into or through it. the hinges on the hood are made to break away so instead of coming through the windshield, it goes over it. same thing with the fenders and even the motor mounts are supposed to break away so the motor drops to the ground and goes under the car. after an accident like this, you can see all of the crumple zones - those that are engineered to give way instead of the forces reaching the driver or passenger. i can show you on a car where they are, before it's been in an accident and then you can compare them to a car that's been smashed.

i don't know how either of you survived smashing your heads around. hell, i don't even know how the motor survived. luck - divine intervention - being resilient - being drunk - whatever it was that saved your life happened for a reason. now, think about that for a minute. if your number was up, you wouldn't be here.

so wait, you smashed a roundabout in teh clubs? I thought you went off the road or something. idk man, that doesnt look like 70 to me. my friend josh took down 3 trees bigger then them a few years back in his ranger, and he was only doing 55 ( fell asleep at the wheel about a 1/4 of a mile from his house...) you must of been hauling, but not no 70 through there. I remember crashing my Camaro, I was doing about 45-50 around a 120 degree bend about... well.... 1/8 mile form my house, and no tread, a weeks worth of rain, and poor judgement around the turn brought the rear around, I over corrected, brought the car around the other way, corrected again, brought the car straight, but by this time I was in the mud, sliding, and I couldnt control my car. I hit the tree that happen to be sticking out past the other ones, otherwise Id of been fine, and hit it doing about 10-15, yetteh airbags didnt deploy, I was fine but this was the end result, oh and by the way, this is the first time I am publicly posting these:

First off, I'm really glad to see you're alright, Bubba.

Mike or any law enforcement, can you shine a little light on what can happen, since the police are trying to blame bubba? does he have to prove he wasn't driving to them? what kind of recourse does he have?

With an accident as severe as this one was, there most likely was a thorough accident investigation. Any cop worth his salt, especially one that investigates accidents, is going to know where Bubba was seated simply by matching the extra lumps on his head to the spiderwebbed glass. Not to mention that the way that steering wheel was bent, there's no way that his buddy doesn't have the imprint on his chest in the form of a matching bruise. The only thing I can see Bubba having to worry about is a ticket for letting someone who is under the influence of alcohol drive his car (IF that's even the case), which could probably be argued given his own intoxicated state. If his friend was drunk, and they prove it, then he's screwed. If they suspect DWI, I wouldn't be surprised if they took blood from his buddy while he was unconscious. An officer doesn't have to ask for blood samples; if the driver goes to the hospital, they just take them.

i hear being liquored up makes you more flexible in a crash so you kind of go with the forces rather than fight them and break your bones.

Correct. Alcohol is a barbituate; that is, it relaxes you. Too much alcohol drastically slows your reaction time. When you are sober and about to have an accident, you see it coming and reflexively tense up. This makes you more rigid and causes greater injury during a crash. Bubba most likely didn't have time to tense up and react to the crash; as such, he's not as badly hurt. Drunk or not, I'm amazed you're alive since you weren't wearing your seat belt. Get well soon, Bubba.

yea tell me about it...that cop didn't even take breathalyser or blood from either of us cause he already had the DUI, leaving the scene, filing a false report(because they couldn't find the driver, who was literally 2 rooms down the hall) failure to maintain lane, and reckless driving...all for me. then I found my buddy and he called to cop from the hospital to admit he was driving. gotta love Galloway Police

But earlier in this thread, you said your seatbelt broke.

yea for one I think being as hammered as I was and being so damn big pulled trough for me for once...and the seat belt, but that broke

yup...cause I thought I had it on until I got the car back. but now I got to look at everything, it's more than obvious I didn't. Honestly it would have done more damage being that the car never had seatbelt guides on the head rests. most likely would have broken my neck

I was too drunk to drive so i let my drunk friend drive my car last night, and he deiced to get throttle happy. Well he ended up putting us into the woods at 70+mph after hitting a wet spot...The car cut down 2 trees and wrapped around a third tree
broken nose, fractured nasal bone, sinus bleeding, head trauma, lacerations to the head, arms and legs.

I'll have pics of the poor car tomorrow. fixed.
