They also announced two tour dates in late Jan 2009 at Nassau Collusium & The Prudential Center.

Metallica after the black album sucks. After St anger, my hopes aren't too high for this new one...

Load wasnt that terrible, I play it once in a while... Reload was where it went downhill. St. Anger was a lost cause, but this sounds kinda promising. New producer means no more Bob "I will attempt to convert this band to sound country" Rock.

NAPSTER BAD ...MONEY GOOD! :)

I always have been a Metallica fan. Like you said, load isn't bad, Fixxxer is probably the only song I like on Reload. S&M was cool in its own way, but ehh. Garage days was ... ok.

But St. Anger ...... I don't even think I listened to a full song on that album.

Unless the go back to more of the speed metal/thrash I will be wary of it.

Thats a little something that gets leaked before every album comes out, some screw-around previews and a cpl finalized clips of it. Sounds like they are going back to roots minus the voice.

They even brought back solos :w00t:

Their CDs have been weaker and weaker. St Anger is awful. This song is not bad. I'm hoping no more bob rock producting is good. The riff & sound is motorhead-like. Hetfield sounds not so good, but the mix is bad, so I'll give him a pass.

Hey, the double bass is back.

Master of Puppets FTMFW! Bring back the epics!

Am I the only person that likes the writing on St. Anger? The production was god awful though. I cant believe the band and the record label let it be released sounding like that though.

yes.

i don't hate it as muhc as i did when it first came out. but i definitely dont love it either. then again, i loved s&m because the music was completely awesome. didn't matter that it wasn't as hard as original.

I thought the St.Anger live stuff was good, but the albums sounds like crap. When the Black Album came out I liked it, but was disappointed because Metallica wasn't Metallica anymore. They've only had slight hit and more misses since. Hopefully getting rid of that producer will help.

Or a tour date announcement. They are touring in late 2008.

I missed them in '03 and I'll be damned if I miss them again.

Ride the Lightening and Master of Puppets were/are the best Metallica albums. The "Black" album jumped the shark, and Load that dribbled down Lars' leg, and Load that James should have swallowed were commercial(sell-out). I gave St.Anger a chance. I listened to it, but I just thought WTF?! It was one of the worst albums I've ever heard. I'd rather listen to Ripper with Judas Priest and BlazeBailey with Maiden for 48 hrs. straight than that album once! I heard the "New Song" and "Cyannide". I'd rather watch American Idol!!!!!

in 2004 they played a lot of older stuff, they played obviously creeping death, fade to black, four horseman i think..master of puppets, battery and the likes, they seem to play a lot of songs off of MoP and AJFA and RTL more than anything lately.

Yea because Rob can pull off that bass like it was originally played on those albums because he doesnt use a pick. Newstead played a portion of Orion in 1992 and completely ****ed that up... altering it to his liking. Its somewhere on YouTube and sounds like ****... listen to that, then listen to when they played Orion 20 years after the release of MOP at Rock Am Ring with Rob and tell me that aint total badassness.

I'll have to check, I think I have the AM Ring show on DVD. That guy has breathed some fresh air into those stagnant guys.

I'm going to get tickets to the show in Newark. Saw the bootleg video of Cyanide on YouTube from the Ozzfest show in Texas and it sounds promising. We'll see in a few weeks.

ok well today metallica released the first single off of the new album, the song is called The Day That Never Comes. i think its really badass..except the lyrics are kinda lame, but it sounds like orion in some parts, and im some other parts it sounds like to Live is to die mixed with Low Mans Lyric, but it is still a pretty damn good song

Those were pretty much my same impressions of the song. If the whole album is like that they may win back a lot of fans. Very reminiscent of the old Cliff Burton days but the lyrics reminded me of St. Anger as far as sound quality. Overall I really like it.

the end of the new song is very suicidal tendencies, other than that they sound like metallica again, its pretty sweet.
