View Full Version : Will it ever end!?!?

Hey, just thought I'd let you know, James is back in the hospital. The endoscopy found lots of erosion and inflammation in the esophagus, erosion of the stomach lining, and and duodenal ulcer. The colonoscopy found spots of diverticulosis. We assumed this would be it. The Nexium was helping quite a bit, albeit slower than we (and the doctor) expected.
Then we went for a 45 minute drive last night. He got progressively worse, back to at least a week or 2 ago. We had a follow up to the endoscopy and colonoscopy appointment scheduled tonight, so we went, and since James was in so much pain, he suggested seeing a surgeon to get another opinion and maybe to laproscopy (it had been suggested before, but we canceled the appointment when they found all of the above). So he said either go home with meds and hope to see a surgeon soon (late next week probably), or get admitted to the hospital for observation and guarantee to see a surgeon tomorrow. So we decided it best to go to the hospital. At least we skipped the agonizing ER part, it was direct admission.
This has been going on since July 11th (the first trip to the ER)...WILL IT EVER END?!?!?!?!?!

God bless, I hope all works out. I am going through some initial testing for gi problems as well. And got the Nexium too. I had an upper GI X-rays and had to drink Barrilium while they took them. It was neat but creepy watching my esophagus work.

Wow, for once I wish I wasn't right about the diverticulitis thing, but then again its VERY common so unless its a severe case I haven't heard of it being horrible.
I wish you well James and hope its nothing more serious than it already is.

Wow, enough is enough! Time to get better already. He probably needs a high-flow digestive system, that should pick up a couple of hp! and a couple of stickers!

he's in recovery now. they took out the appendix. the tip was inflamed which could have caused the pain. he also had a small hernia under his belly button. hopefully this is it.

Baahhhhh, the appendix is extra weight so it's not needed. I still say to go for the high-flow digestive system! I think Bonzo had that weight reduction done last year. He said it was fun! Good luck on the recovery and let us know how it goes. We missed you guys at the Nats.

Thanks guys. He seems to be doing better now, but we shall see what tomorrow holds. Hopefully this is it and he can heal and get back to his normal routine, albeit with some changes (mostly dietary).
They are possibly sending him home tomorrow. I have no idea if that will actually be the case, but we shall see.

Hope all goes well and you can get home tomorrow old man!
how much does an appendix weigh?
Knowing James he asked the doc for a specific weight, just like he did after knee surgery a few years back.

Rofl. Surprisingly he didn't ask. :) I tried to look it up on google and didn't find anything useful. Oh well.
He's home now! Woohoo!!! Getting better. Probably should have stayed one more day, but when he found out the nurse and PCA he can't stand would be in tonight, he said he'd rather go home. So here we are, lol. He's ok to be home though, just the craftmatic adjustable bed can't come home with us, lol.

Did I miss something? I don't see the answer to how much it actually weighs.
And I did google, and nothing I found told me how much it actually weighed (besides "maybe a few grams").

No, I didn't see an exact weight either. I would imagine it's different for everyone, but a few grams is prolly right on the money for most.

It said one pound in the inflamed state on the link justin put up, but who knows how scientific that is.

Yeah, I saw that. Except only the tip was inflammed for James, so I can't use that as an estimate. lol
