engine question!

ok i just bought a 98 z28 a few weeks ago and my friend took it to gm to get the motor replaced because of a rod knock. i was doing a little research and i read that 241 heads were on the 00 and up ls1's is this correct and if so does this mean i have a 00 or newer engine thats in my car now?

if they put a service replacement in, the answer may be yes if the new ## supercedes the old one...
