I cant take it anymore with the NJ MVC. I went to Rahway with my Avalanche and first the guy takes my info, tell me to go wait in the little booth and looks at my truck. He does a visual around the truck, looks under my truck with a mirror and then opened up my hood. I didnt see him open anyone else hood, just mine. He did a quick look and then closed it up. I was wondering what that was all about but I said oh well what are they gonna fail me for now. :-x So any I have a medical exemption for the tint on my front window. My tint is not that dark but they were looking at my tint for atleast 15- 20min. I was realy getting mad then, I was thinking what the hell is taking so long. So now they finish everything and slap a rejected sticker on. :-x::banghead::argue::bang: The lady tells me my tint is too dark and it only let 26% in. They said I had to replace the tint with a lighter one. WTF. Now I have rip the tint off and get a lighter shade. Atleast they didnt fail for anything else which I thought they were going to say something about my exhaust or something like that.

I go for inspection with the GTP next month, there are a bunch of minor things I'll probably fail for.
Last time through they failed me for my windshield wiper blades  :supergay:

NJ DMV sucks. I 've been failed for a gas-cap :knock: and then to add insult to injury on the way home I noticed they stole all my change from the console. :(

you should just take it to a private inspector. if you show him the medical thing for the tint, he will pass you for sure. there is certain info that sometimes must be retrieved from under the hood. for instance, federal tier 1 vehicle.

That sucks.
Funny inspection story. Girl came in the other day with her dad, said she failed inspection for a nail in her tire. I gave her a puzzled look. I went out to the car, and the tires were 1 to 3/32nds on 3 of the 4 tires!! I saw the nail, and dug it out...it didnt even puncture the tire, just in the tread block.
I dont know why they didnt fail her for bald tires, but the eagle eyed guys and gals at DMV picked up that nail?
Lame.

I just passed in the T/A. They took for ever to. The guy reved it up and everyone liked in the station. I thought it was gonna fail casue my headlight has retarted moments and ofcourse didnt go up in there. It also had the ABS light on and Emergency light on casue of the rear. Still passed :)

Been there before, did they make your parking brake scream before realizing their mistake? :-?

they popped the hood on my saturn last week...he jumped on the gas a bit when he first pulled it in, the put it in neutral and gave it a few revs....pretty sure he was looking for an aftermarket intake, cause i have the entire bottom half of the airbox cut off  but he didnt see that part

that's why I just pay 50 bucks for private inspection... it's NOT worth the hassle / time at the DMV/MVC/POS Whatever you wanna call it :)

It's easier for me to just go to a private station even though both cars will pass easily...I just drop it off on my way to work, walk 1 block to work, work all day, then come back and voila they're all set no hassle. I've never been to the state inspection myself.

The only reason I went to the state one was becuse the paper work that I got for the window tint exemption said I had to go to a state facility for them to measure the tint darkness or if I got the tint done by one of the vendors the DMV tells you can go to then I could have gone anywhere for inspection.

i went to paramus dmv with my old 95 v6 camaro that had a vortex muffler and a hi flow cat on it and the first guy revved my car up for a few minutes (everyone i was standing online waiting with were like WTF is that!?!?).. the car was extremely loud, im guessing the baffles or whatever inside of the muffler were blown out.. guy got out of the car and inspected the exhaust with the mirror, then called over another guy which soon turned into 5 guys checking out the muffler with the mirror.. went through everything and they failed me for my bulbs in my clear rear sidemarkers for looking pink? (red bulbs mustve faded).. went to autozone and picked up a new set of red bulbs plus those red gel covers that go over them to make sure they would definitely look red and passed no problem when i went back.. from now on im going to take my car to a private inspection station
