Racing a Mach 1 tonight with gears and exhaust/intake

tonight im racing a mach 1 at the track he has been talking all kinds of **** and we're finally going at it. Any suggestions for a better time? WOT shifting?

its a 5 speed and has gears idk what the ratio is but its better then 3.55

Me neither and 9 times out of 10 they can't shift anyway, I lose count of how many guys miss a shift on street night. I personally never lift my foot from the gas pedal while shifting. Good Luck

I think it'll be close, assuming the driver mods are equal. With your new headers, I'm guessing you'll be about a 13.20.

My buddies bone stock ne ran a best of a 13.4@105 with a 60 of 2.1. They arent no GT. Them DOHC 4.6 move. I drove his car and all i can say wow. I was never impressed with a GT but them machs are a real diffrence. No Cobra but def a challenge. I can beat my buddies at the track on but on the street were about even. When my car decides to run wit kills it but still a close race

They are quick. They do have solid rears unlike the Cobras so if he's got a tire, watch out.

4.10s on mach1s all the way. and with intake, exhaust , and 4.10s they run mid low 13s . have two friends with 03 mach 1s both ran the same times .

:lol: I know the Mach 1 youre talking about. "The Hammer" pulled on him a few times (in his low 13 sec Lightning) but the guy couldnt drive. We told him that if he wanted to do a full race to come to Atco that next night, the kid never showed up. I dont think its that fast.

Upgraded cams are like 2 grand for them cars. But the Cam only machs are really nasty.

Just get a good jump on him. It will be hard for him to catch up. Its all drivers error. OI hope your runnin DRs

running eagle f1's :-) i get grip like no other. I'm wondering if he ran that 12.9 in cold weather because i can certainly do that.

Have you gotten a tune yet since doing the headers? That will make a decent difference so I would get that done asap.

I used PCMforless and it was around $250 and I got an exchanged PCM. I would recommend sending your PCM out to him instead of the exchange because I need to get the crank sensor relearn done now. That gets triggered often when you swap pcm's. You should probably pick up a solid .2-.3 from a decent tune.

Get a dyno tune. I think TTP is only 250 as well for bolt on cars.

i know a kid with full exhaust (headers, x pipe) 4.10s, tune, drag radials and some other bolt on bs, and he runs a best of 13.4, its not very fast. they are nothing special really. everyone says hes a good driver...but probably not.

I agree, ive never seen a mach run 12s. usually i see 03-04 cobras run 12s with mods lol. people hype up machs way too much. ive read on other boards that they run 12s stock.. lmao!

Camvill, If this guy can drive, it will be a fun race. not putting you down, but by the looks of your time and mph, your driving skills could use some improvement. whats your 60' look like? are you on drag radials too? i pulled a 12.97@ 110 with my 98 when it was lid/catback, on street tires. with intake/ full exhaust, untuned, full weight 12.50s @ 112. with intake/headers you should see 12s

im easily in the 12's when its alittle colder when i went it was about 92 degrees out and my 60 foot was 2.0 w/o wot shifting

That mach 1 won't run no better than 12.8-9. I'd say its a drivers race since you now have headers, and if you didn't get a tune yet its a MUST.

I agree. they are quick cars but the times are so close its def a drivers race.

He's saying even given the best circumstances, the mods to the stang won't cut off more than .5 sec, and that the guy you are racing may not be the perfect driver that monmouthyantz speaks of, so in reality nobody knows.

did my spark plugs, still has a miss and there is a like sparking noise coming from the right front tire im assuming the o2 sensor wire melted from the longtubes on and i definetly feel a loss of power. Gotta check this out when i get time.

first thing you do, to eliminate the costly guessing game is----- SCAN IT! lol. An OBD II scan tool is your friend. your problem could be a number of things. based on my experiences, my guess would be a bad coil pack. that would explain the loss of power and the misfire. but scan it first!!

sparking like arching? could have torn an ignition wire, improper install, or a few other things. i would find out which is missing right away. pull wires off individually with it running, try reinstalling the wires on the plugs to ensure proper connection.

Since it's dark out, why not just start the car and look around the engine bay carefully? Any plug wires that are ripped and shorting out will most likely be easily visible due to the spark.

I had a problem with my one taylor wire burnig on the LTs. So i have it wrapped in aluminum foil hasnt casued my a problem yet. But make sure none of the wires are resting against the headers

yeh he didnt go to the track for some reason lol idk why. As for me i dont really wanna post my slips i did horrible could of been because of the weather or something but my previous best was a 13.3 at 106 and last night i ran a 13.8 at 102>>?? The only mods i changed since the last run was Longtubes and new plugs and wires and i got slower????? Guess i need a tune but ill prolly wait for a ls6 intake manifold before going that route.
