just a word to the motorcycle people. wear your gear for christ sakes because tonight it certainly saved my ass from some serious pain. i took a low speed slide tonight in some misty rain and really messed myself up. i have a little internal bleeding as i lacerated my spleen and bruised my liver. but i think i'll live to ride another day! im in hackensack under observation with a morphine drip & poor signal. ttyl

wow, lacerated liver and spleen. i'm glad you wore your safety gear as you will be around because you did. riding a bike on the street is no joke, and people need to take safety gear seriously.

Glad to hear you're not too bad off. This is why I don't even consider getting a bike. I have a short drive to work and I'm a perfect candidate for a bike, but I watch the way people drive to work in the morning and head home in the evening and no way I'm gonna get mixed in with that craziness. Wet conditions are another thing entirely, but I've just never been a fan of bikes and I always leave plenty of room for riders near me on the road because they are the ones most at risk. Get well soon!

Everytime I hear about some one wrecking or getting hit on their bike makes me glad I got rid of mine. Glad you were wearing your gear though. A friend of mine whiped out on his Aprillia recently also. Wearing your gear can make all the difference.
Get well soon Alex!

I've saved so much money this summer by riding my bike as much as I can. You are right, people are ignorant and oblivious to bikes. I constantly keep an escape plan and pay attention to what I believe their next move will be. Deer are actually more dangerous to me then idiot people in cars.

I don't believe time of day has anything to do with it over experience of riding on different road conditions.

Thanks again everyone for the well wishes. I'm finally home. The doc told me 8 weeks no manual labor so there goes my night job. I'm supposed to spend the next couple of days in bed as theirs still a chance I can re-open the wound so I think I'm going to buy a Xbox360 in the mean time.
