I heard that it has a black box that records your driving habits, so if you beat the hell out of it and take it in for warranty work, bye bye warranty

yea i read about that too. It also has a traction control feature(much more advanced) that if you use it it will void your warranty haha.

ive heard that as well. i also heard that any obdIII compliant computer is accessible from gps sattelite and a cop can shut your cpu off or run your log to see what you been doing.

I see much of this happening in the near future with a lot of cars. I do think it's dumb to have it on a sports car advertised and recommended for "hard use".

Ok this car is capable of performing 0-60 in X.XX and so and so forth but if you do this then your warranty is voided. Of course, if you are really abusing a car then I believe you should pay for the damages but everyones definition of this can vary.

Sometimes I love my 11 year old car :) . I would love to see someone file a suit as invasion of privacy.

its not the traction control that voids the warranty. its the LAUNCH control that does. warranty's are made for people that take care of cars. if you spend 100k on a car and take it to the track within 20k miles (or is it 30?) then your a lunatic. Just take a bunch of road trips until the warranty is up. then you dont feel bad

lol

I gotta laugh every time this comes up. They said the same thing would happen 25 years ago when all the new cars started coming with computers. There are a million things the computer in a car is capable of, just like the computer sitting on your desk, but that in no way means that there is a snow balls chance in hell of any of it ever happening.

The manufacturers, SEMA, and a few million enthusiasts would never let it get that far.

BTW, there are data logging devices in a lot of late models. Currently they can not legally be used for much of anything.

Those black boxes have also kept a few people from being convicted of vehicular homicide in a few court cases..
Along with there is a few that they were used to convict people

I remember when they used to mail out tickets based on an EZ-Pass. They'd look at the time you got on the highway, look at where and when you got off, caculated your average speed, and mailed a ticket.

That lasted long LOL.

Or the time that rental car company did it using the on board GPS system.

You can only race the GTR at authorizied tracks or that voids your warranty. I have to find the big Nissan thing about the GTR that limits you from doing any mods to it as well. All the GTR's at last year's SEMA used the same wheels, but different tires.

So why exactly does that make you a lunatic?

I saw a NISMO tuned one at Island last friday. Ran 11.6. I didn't know they offered a NISMO version?

Exactly. What, cuz I spend $100k I shouldn't beat my car?! Quite the opposite my friend!

Anyone who DOESN'T abuse a supercar is a fruitcake. No car is made with gobs of power and go-kart handling to sit in a climate controlled garage like a bitch. Use it, or you're a homo.

I just saw one of these in person the other night. This car is awsome in person and so much cooler then the one they had at the autoshow in philly. Hopefully this kid willl take for a ride in it soon. He already blew the trans having to take it back and ger it replace under warranty with less the 2k miles on it. He broke it on the gumball rally and had to drive home to get his brand new m3 to finish it. Def a sweet car and really nasty. If you by any chance went to the moorestown mall last night you would seen a glimpse. Ricer kids got to nuts and me a my buddy had to follow the kid to his house.

They should void the warranty if you rice the thing out! A set of dubs, a NOS or Nopi sticker or an indy car wing and bye-bye warranty.

You're saying you're a lunatic if you don't wait till the car has 20,000 miles?! Are you sober??

So what? as soon as you mod it you're most likely going to void the warranty.
What're you going to do? Sit around until it hits 20k miles?

If I had the cash to buy a $100K super car I'm going to drive it like it was meant to be driven. That's like saying you should only drive a new ZR1 on weekends when it's over 80* out and you can't bring it up over 4K rpms until the warranty is over(of course)
