Or at least gets some internal tension

Hopefully this is true, and if so the Saudi's intentions are as good as they seem...

There has been a lot of talk about this lately. I like the idea, but at the same time I noticed that all of this has started to surface in the last 3 months, which happens to exactly coincide with the time frame in which both presidential candidates made statements supporting the US releasing reserves and doing more drilling.

Do you think they will be just as serious about change after the next president is in office and nothing happens right away?

Nope, but if McCain gets in I doubt he'll let the drilling/reserve releasing issue die. I just hope a brain dead Congress listens.

The congress has been blocking drilling since the gas crisis of the 70's, I have trouble believing they will all pull a 180 now. Although, the longer term outlook is that if they don't wake up many of them will get voted out and our average congressman's age will dip back below the 100 year old mark. We can get back to the good ol' days when the country was run by 65 year old a-holes. lol

Actually, in 1995 the House and Senate approved drilling in ANWR but it was vetoed by Clinton.

I think they(OPEC) are all full of ****. Iran wants to and will eventually come to conflict with the USA. As for Chavez, he wants to be like Castro, but lacks Castro's smarts. He keeps saying he will shut oil sales to the USA, but who else is going to buy his oil when we are the only ones buying 90% of it now? :?:

China or India. they are consuming oil at an alarming rate, yet people seems to always forget about that little info.

Since when do bicycles and palanquins require oil?

It will be interseting to see how this works out.
If it does dissolve, will the countries try to under cut each other prices? Or will they follow the market instead of trying to create the market?
Tons of questions come to mind I can't even answer.
