Ahaha, I dont think Lutz could move fast enough to keep up with Colbert, but played it off well. Not super stuffy CEO type, but was pretty funny overall.
Photovoltaic cell for the roof of the car! Thats cool, not gunna do much since the technology isnt there yet, but its the idea that counts. Solar pannels = saving the world.
He was a bit off on the milage from what the numbers dictate. Engine should do about 50-60mpg by just sitting at a constant rpm, with a 7-8 gallon tank, thats a 350-420 miles additional.

His eyes lit up when colbert rattled off the list of 'parts' -"can i get ground effects, rims, headers, ...) LOL, then he says "did what I just said make sense" :)

CR gets replayed the next night at like 830 or something.

The episode is viewable online on the show's website. I liked when Lutz told Colbert what kind of ladies he would attract with the Volt

haha, that was funny. steve colbert is awesome. that does look like a great car for local commuters, they should have outlets in parking lots so people can plug in when they go out for errands. some may never use gas for a LONG time.

on a side note: was Bob Lutz in the Marine corps? in his interview its hard to see from the youtube video but he is wearing a tie clasp that looks similar to the one we wear on our alpha and bravo uniforms.

Yes, Lutz is a former Marine Aviator.
He currently owns 2 fighter jets and flies a heilocopter to work every day.

He most deffinatly does....every day, a small little personal helo to Renn Center every morning. Actually, if you read the "15 Deciples" that were picked to be the enthuisast mouth piece for the 5th gen, Bob Lutz flew overhead in one of his fighters when they were at Milford.

GM's Wagoner Makes Case For Company's Future On YouTube

Story 0392 (GM)
By Sharon Terlep Of DOW JONES NEWSWIRES

DETROIT -(Dow Jones)- General Motors Corp. (GM) Chief Executive Rick Wagoner has taken to YouTube to convince the world that that the auto maker will emerge from its latest turmoil.

Wagoner, in an unusual move for an executive of one of the world's largest companies, used the popular video sharing web site to stress that GM is doing what needs to be done to overcome the challenges facing the company.

"We do have to do some tough things to get through today's challenging environment," he said in a video titled "The Case for GM." "We are stepping up to those tough issues and it's expensive to do it and it's a challenge."

Wagoner noted that factors dragging on GM, from the tumult on Wall Street and a slumping U.S. economy to volatile oil prices, have "led a lot of people to ask, 'What's GM's future look like?'"

In the brief video, Wagoner said he believes GM has a solid future. He highlighted the company's efforts to grow in global markets and deliver new fuel-saving technology.

GM is trying to reassure investors shaken by massive losses in recent quarters, further exacerbated by a slumping U.S. auto market and rapid shift away from high-margin pickup trucks and sport-utility vehicles.

This past summer, the rolled out a liquidity boosting plan that calls for cutting $10 billion in costs and raising $5 billion through asset sales and the financial markets.

But the auto maker's latest move to draw $3.5 billion from its credit facilities has sparked new fears that GM lacks sufficient liquidity to survive the downturn.

GM's stock price has lost nearly two-thirds of its value in the past 12 months, swinging wildly in recent weeks. Shares were up 5.0% percent, at $12.16 in early trading Tuesday, after losing 11.5% during Monday's session.

I always love how they slip in the "GM has lost X% over this months, lost 15 billion last quarter, lost X% market share in X time" at the end of EVERY SINGLE GM ARTICLE. Just incase you forgot.
