 I was in haledon about to stop at a light and..i push the clutch in and it goes all the way to the floor without any resistance and the car craps out. i start it and i push the clutch in, again no resistance, so it wont go into gear. i had 2 cops push my car into a parkinglot and then AAA brought it to my house. my dad thinks it might be something with thew slave cylinder because clutches dont just stop working like that. any ideas? i really need to fix this thing.

yep sounds like either theres no fluid in it, or i THINK theres a clip or something that happens to fall off/come loose from those T56's? someone else would know better than me. someone here had the same problem a little while ago, check the tech forums

i guess you can check the basics such as to make sure the pedal is still connected to the pushrod thingy to the master cylinder, and maybe pop the slave off and make sure that it didn't slip off the fork.

Thats the most half assed tech response that I could have typed.

yea .. LT1 T56's use a "pull style" clutch. Theres a pushrod that comes out of the slave, and pushes the end on the fork. Its on the underneath on drivers side with the braided line going to it. Thats what I ment.

Or maybe your pedal came disconnected.

i just jacked the car up and looked at it. there is no fluid in the cylinder. so thats a leak lol. i looked under neath and there is a leak. from where the black plastic piece(im guessing slave cylinder) connects to the transmission. the braided hose, from the plastic cylinder leads to the black piece. when i put fluid in it leaked out of where the slave cylinder connected to the transmission. what do i have to do to fix the problem?

yeah i had this problem a while back. turned out the line that connects the master cylander to the slave cylinder blew off. i just replaced both the master and the slave.

beleive it or not you can drive without using the clutch at all..thats how i got it home hahah. sometimes i drive around with my left foot out the window.

gonna have to add fluid and bleed it out...mine was hard because both the master and slave were brand new

well if 4th gens are anything like 3rd gens, should just be 2 bolts that push it to the bellhousing. my REAL helpful advice, when u get the bleeding the system out, dont tighten the bleeder screw too hard on the slave cylinder, you can 'incredible hulk' it and destroy the threads on it, and off to autozone you go. pain in the assss haha

buy alot of dot3 brake fluid, you are going to need it. fill the reseviour, u are going to need a friend. have ur friend push the clutch in, when he does you have to unscrew the bleeder screw, air will come out...repeat this for like 15 minutes until you get pressure. remember not to tighten the bleeder screw too hard.

the good thing was that the cylinder only cost me $50 8-)

..one question though why do they call it a "slave cylinder"???

Same reason you're Primary hard drive in your computer is the master, and the secondary is the slave. It works off the "master".

Sho-nuff ask's .... "WHOO"S THE MASTER?"
