Assuming I fix my rocker arm stud and have all the rocker arms adjusted how much should I ask for my car?

1984 firebird.
92,000 miles on body
400sbc
vortec heads, mild cam, performer rpm intake, speed demon 750
th350 rebuilt by Js performance with around 100 miles on it.
3500 rpm t/c
UMI, torque arm, lower control arms and pan hard rod
greg weld wheels
new tires

after the rocker arm is fixed and the rocker arms adjusted it will need

horn, headlight gears, windshield wipers fixed(even though the car shouldn't be driven in the rain!) headliner, sub frame connectors, and a bigger exhaust(the engine is being choked by my 2.5 catback...)weather stripping along where the doors meet the windows.

so how much should I list this car for? I'm about to start applying to schools and I realized what my priorities are.

sry if this is in the wrong area but i didn't want to clutter the classifieds.

and if your not going to be serious, screw you

He had a small engine fire while installing an intake manifold a while back. As far as I know there is no current damage to the car from the fire.

He sold it to his mom so he would have money to buy a DD.

WildBillyT

Buy it back and keep it. You will never get anywhere near the money you have into it back out. It's got a stout drivetrain but it's still an '84 Firebird (no offense).

his mom gave him money in exchange for keeping it off the road, lets not get his wording confused. now he has to sell it to pay her back.....

Wow, a lot of work went into that car, it's a shame you're selling it.

It just depends on the owners...some know how to keep them running well...others break stuff then blame it on other people.

i break stuff and blame it on myself! everything i know about working on cars can be attributed to me messing sumthin up on my 88 lol.

as for your 84 bird.... we all know what its been thru with ur ownership and the lack of ownership before you.... best bet would be craigslist....

Since the engine is a mystery combo made out of unknown condition second and third hand parts and last I heard wasn't running because of a failed rocker stud. No over drive, beat 24 year old stock suspension, peg leg 2.73 peg leg rear, it is a rather poor brown paint job and a whooped white interior. Along with all the other misadventures and problems you have had with the car any informed shopper would be left wondering what else is wrong.

I wouldn't offer more than $1500 for it.

where the **** do you guys get your information from?

second and third hand parts? whooped interior? mystery engine combo?

lol. thanks for the funny responses.

as for what i said about josh, its over, get over it, you can talk **** behind my back in the basement all you want. In the end your still the ones wasting your time talking about me, on the internet....

so $3500 thats not that bad if I get real tight with tuition money, thanks!

heres my beat ass interior...

hmmm...well your reputation on this site is pretty bad and that's coming from someone that has only been a member for 6 months. My suggestion would be to list it on LS1tech under a different username so that you have a better chance of selling the car.

As much as I am resisting, or want to... I'm not picking on you really (for once) when I say this... just put it on craigslist with what YOU think you can get for the car, and sell it to someone who doesnt know that it caught fire, fell off jackstands and had some neat explosion or soemthing and all that oldie-but-goodie stuff. Keep in mind fuel costs, upcoming weather, and condition when pricing yourself.

I am being serious, not busting balls. These are questions people will ask and you should know the answer.

What compression ratio is the motor? What are the cam specs?

I have had several conversations with you about your mystery shortblock. We all know it's a 400 with vortec heads. That's hardly much info. Is it stock bore? Miles since rebuild? Factory or aftermarket parts inside? You don't know (unless you have had it rebuilt and didn't say anything to anyone).

A mystery 400 block in an '84 'bird isn't exactly worth a bunch of cash.....

The issues with your car are well documented on various forums Matt. You don't know what kind of shape the major components of the engine are in, referring to the long block, and the rocker failure is just one more example of that.

The paint job is garbage by your own statements and crying about some scratch that you blamed on Josh. The interior is also very very tired looking, maybe you got a good picture of it, but the marks all over the plastics and the floppy lookin broken down seats count as a whooped interior in my book.

You asked the question and true to form, now you wanna cry about the honest answers you get. Maybe if you had asked questions and listened to half of the honest advice you were given from day 1 you would have a running car with less than half the money tied up in it.

Now I am sure you are all offended.....again.... and you are going to quit the forums....... again...... and tell everyone how you will never come back here.......... again.

Enjoy

That's my point as well.

WAYFAST FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY LEARN WHAT YOU ACTUALLY OWN. OTHERWISE PEOPLE WON'T PAY YOU WHAT IT'S WORTH, THEY WILL PAY YOU WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE IN THEIR EYES: THEY WILL ASSUME EVERYTHING IS IN CRAPPY CONDITION.

Which is a high mileage stock 400 with Vortec heads, aftermarket induction, a Th350 with a stock converter, a **** rearend, and the like.

If you want top dollar you need to prove it deserves top dollar. Only the dumbest buyers will "take your word for it" and they are few and far between at the caliber you need.

If you don't like the answers you get don't ask the questions you little punk. Luckily I wasn't around on the board for the month **** went down with you or else I would've given you a piece of my mind then. You're a scumbag who got cut a great deal and **** on the person that helped you out.

But enough of that, this thread is about that. You're better off putting it on TGO or craigslist...maybe even Ebay. I think if you list it for $3500 you'll get close to that provided the car is running ok.

I don't know what kind of responses you expected, especially given the tone you set.
