ok i got into my 98 z after work today and i saw a wire tucked up in the center console that was falling down so i pulled it a little and the one side is cut with like 7 colored wires wraped in a black covering. it goes up towards the center of the dash but cant see exactly where it goes. you guys have any clue?

yea i have a stock raido in it. i did a little more investiagating and its routed up toards the center of the dash but than is tucked under the carpet and ran towards the driver side underneath the pedals. could it be a cut slp fan switch wiring? it looks similar to what i had in my 93 just dont remember how many wires were at the connector.
doesnt look like OEM wiring at all

I was gonna say that it looked kind of like the neutral safety switch wiring on my car, and follows a similar route

I would guess that it's something to do with the sound system.

Plus:
1.) The term is Cat5, Cat5e, or Cat6 cable.
2.) It would be twisted pair. This isn't.
3.) These wires don't look like 24 gauge.

Not always. Sometimes the other (white stripe) wire is not colored at all, usually with low quality cable

Those aren't the only terms....I remember when they ripped all the Cat3 out of my dorm and replaced it with 5e

OMG that is exactly what it is... they prolly had it jerry rigged because that end should be like a S-video connection on the end. That is most def a cd changer cable.
