You can rent a steam cleaner and try that...

If you go that route make sure everything is completely dry before you put it back in.... if not you will have mold growing in the carpet padding and then it will eventually smell much worse then it originally did...
The easiest simpliest route that may or may not work is to soak the carpet with resolve high traffic foam let it sit for a few then scrub it in with a brush and vac. it out making sure its completely dry. But chances are its the padding on the back that smells and this may not work.

i hope its not the padding on the back. i really dont feel like taking this all apart again. im pretty sure its just the carpet because i leaned in and smelt it and it had an odor to it. not much but enough for my ocd ass to want to get rid of it.
rich dont you work for jersey devil detailers? what do you guys use for carpet cleaning? resolve and vacuum?

I am jersey devil detailing... its a part time thing for me... it depends on the situation i have a steam cleaner a little green machine and a few different cleaners. The reason i suggested resolve is it has a stronger "clean" scent to it and it tends to stick.
The best thing to do would have a ozone machine ran through it but i currently dont have one or know of anyone who does.

alright here is what i did:
turtle wax oxy power out cleaning **** (came with a brush)
scrubbed the **** out of the carpet
sprayed with resolve scrubbed some more
sprinkled baking soda all over carpet and let sit
vacummed
scrubbed the get baking soda out of carpet
vacummed more
it smell like nothing! is very nice now. ill just keep new air fresheners in all the time lol. baking soda did the trick, took all the moisture out of the air and carpet. along with any odor.

Does steam cleaning the carpet really work? I have a stubborn stain that I can't seem to get out. It's under the passenger floor mat so not critical but I know it's there.

i would assume steam cleaning works. you really gotta use a strong stain lifter and scrub the **** out of the carpet.

All the prices are on my website.... as long as theres no major stains etc it should be the base price for everything. The most economical thing to do would probably do one of the specials i always do for fbodys and go with the single stage polish which will remove most of the smaller swirls and blend in some of the deeper ones. The paint by no means will be perfect but it will make a major difference. I can do details in the cold as i can use waterless wash if its very cold. But once it gets to a certain point (where its below 35 in the afternoon) i normally dont do them anymore so if you would like to schedule one pm me and we will set something up.

I don't know the standard price but it may depend on the cleaner that you'll get and i think it's gonna get up to 200 bucks.
