View Full Version : how fast can a cobalt SS be?
Whats the average 1/4 mile range for a mild cobalt SS? im talking one with at least an exhaust, and maybe intake, tune and possibly a smaller pulley... im not really sure what else is available for those cars.
is it unexpected for one of them to be low 13's or so?

i heard the supercharged cobalts have a hard time breaking into the high 13's.. but if its a turbo. they run ls1 times with only a little bit of work..
i dunno what version it was, just a 2 door, large factory wing, exhaust, and had drag strip numbering on the front window...

The Cobalt SSs are all supercharged, no turbo.
They're not all that fast. high 14s maybe with a little work.

actually...wayfast is right on this one, from 2008-2009, the cobalt SS's got the 2.2L turbo ecotec like my sky.... 260hp as well.

The new turbo ones are quick, (at least feel quick) up to 50 ish. I think they trap around 100 on a good day.

A quick :google: search just showed approximately 14.0 @ 100-103 stock, so low-mid 13s is not out of the question at all with a decent driver.

Wrong on both accounts.
As Paul said, new SS's are turbo Ecotec's. And depends on the driver obviously, but I believe the s/c'd ones run at worst mid 14s, mostly 14.1-2ish. Turbo's are ~.3-5 sec quicker I believe. Stock.

Opps, didn't know about the new ones being turbo. I guess the ones I saw at the track have the bad driver mod too.
so a 2.2l turbo ecotec cobalt ss, with exhaust tune intake etc, would be able to take me. ok fair enough.
i need mods

Yup. 2.0 turbo. I personally know someone with a stock coupe that ran 13.8@101. He's an awesome driver but thats pretty impressive i think.
lmao... im a 2.0L as well , i started thinking about my daytonas... 2 2 turbo 2....
but yea, no back story on this one, besides that would be street racing.
i was by the dragstrip east of syracuse

The 05-07 supercharged models w/ a pulley swap and supporting mods trap around 106-108 and run mid to lower 13's...It will take meth inj.,nos, engine work to get them quicker then that though. The 08-09 turbocharged cars have 40 more hp stock, and look to run in the low 13's w/ and intake, catback and tune.
