I am looking for a lift...
Anyone in central NJ know of or have a lift available? I'd be willing to pay for a few hours of lift time.
I need to do a trans swap on my 84 T/A... I've got another one ready to go, I'd just prefer not to have to do it in the driveway. (I'd bring tools, crew, fluid etc...)
If anyone knows of any place let me know. :) Thanks for any help.

Ive been looking for something like this for years now. It would be great if someone was to open a shop where you could rent bays for a day, week or month at a time. Just provide the lift and the garage. Let your customers bring their own tools. I guess insurance reasons is why they dont exist.

Yup... I did a bit of searching and didnt come up with anything. It is a great idea though.
Like you said, I can see the insurance costs really holding it back though.

May be a bit of a hassle, and not what you really want, but monmouth county vocational has a class called "preventative maintenance" or something. You just pull your car in, stick it on the lift, and do whatever you want. Its geared towards learning how to do oil changes, change brake pads, etc. But its very helpful, and the teacher, ed, Is a real cool guy. Its like 140$ for a 10 week class, and it was on mondays when i took it. Pretty sweet deal for 2.5 hours of lift time every week
