i stopped the other day to look at a green corvette. the car appeared clean enough to eat off of - and it had a greenwood wing. come to find out, the car is a real gem. the motor has been worked (even has a custom cam in it) and the interior looks new.
i talked with the guy on the phone a coupla days ago. he had to call me because he hadn't listed his telephone on the for sale sign so i left my number in the weather stripping of the passenger door, which was the only thing that i can see is wrong with it (and i almost didn't see it, having to have to replace mine on the '69 for so long has numbed me to how bad it looks). he said the previous owner had worked the motor, and he was fixing other things like the wheel bearings and such. i didn't want the phone conversation to go on forever, so i cut him off.
my final question was, why are you selling it? the car is as clean as i've been describing it and he was only asking $7200. well, it seems, he's out of money and out of choices, so the play thing has to go. it broke my heart to hear him say that.
well, he called me back today and said he would take $6300 for it. if anyone is in the market for a slightly used '87 vette with clean paint and a greenwood wing, let me know. i know it's the wrong time of the year and all, but it really sounds like this guy is hurting - and it could happen to any one of us. there is no doubt in my mind that it could be made to run 10s with a tiny shot of n2o.
PM me if you're serious and i'll give you the guy's number.
