ive got a 99 T/A A4 and when i accel sometimes, it has a little bit of a hesitation. its like i just let off the gas for like 1/4 second and press it again. it may happen one or two times in the same accel. i mostly notice it when i go around the circle on rt 40, and hit it to leave the circle...the car goes, then lets go, then goes...i dunno its wierd
im thinking MAF, TPS, trans. let me know. if your close by ill get you in the car and show you. haha

could be spark issue, try changing plugs/wires, or could be fuel filter
was your car low on gas when you made that turn on you had the hesitation?

Does it always happen with the throttle in the same basic position? I'd check your TPS for proper adjustment and operation. It's free to check before you start shotgunning parts into it. Probe it with a meter and check the min and max voltages (not sure what they are supposed to be for a 4th gen). Then with the key on/engine off open and close the throttle and watch that the voltage sweeps up and down consistently.

 3 wires. a ground, a 12 volt power, and a signal wire. signal wire should read about 0.5volts throttle closed (idle) and i believe 5 volts wide open throttle. then get back to us.

This phrase makes me wonder about the pick up in the tank. Most of the time when a car dumps then goes, it is a fuel issue, like not having enough squirter in a carb. Run through some fuel injector cleaner, check the fuel pressure at the rail, and consider having the injectors cleaned and checked.

thanks guys. it does it most of the time in first gear and second gear. i might not be able to feel it in the other gears. ill check the TPS. can i just ground to the frame on the probe test?

yes but i would think the battery would be easier. probe the battery first to make sure you have a proper ground.

sorry i took so long... got a nice clean sweep from closed to WOT. now what?...seriously tho... im afraid it is the tranny. the car has 140,xxx on the clock and i bought it last year. its a lil slippy between 1st and second and second and third. i need a trustworthy (not trying to get money out of a rebuild) trans guy in SJ to drive it to let me know if he thinks it is the trans. *cough* member here? *cough* haha
