Hey guys my name is Matt and I'm from Piscataway. I currently own a 04 Subaru STI that I am getting rid of. Before I parted it out it had 380 AWHP and 401 AWTQ. The payments are too high so I decided that it would be in my best interest to sell it.

Anyway I have always loved Trans Ams and I found this one but it was a little out of my price range so I got in touch with him and the final deal is for $7000 and I have to fly out there and pick it up tomorrow.

Let me know what you think!!!

I researched his previous threads and he originally wanted $11000 for the car.

Thanks for looking!

Welcome!

I know I have been watching the weather by the hour... I am used to AWD so I'm just going to take it slow and feel the car out.

Nice car, first mods....Intake Manifold and lid. It seems the guy demodded the car a little before putting it forsale because he's choking that cam big time. Get atleast an LS6 intake manifold and slp lid for the car. I know there is an slp lid forsale in the classifieds for $50.

Thanks guys... I don't know too much about these cars yet but I thought it was strange that the air box was kept... I'll definitely look into getting that lid.

someone step up who has a 2000, but to me, the HVAC controls look like theyre out of a camaro. my 02 TA doesnt look anything like that. i could be wrong, but im fairly certain they didnt change the knobs/font from 2000 to 2002.

not a big deal, maybe he/original owner liked that style more, but if its not stock, you might wonder why.

Those are Camaro HVAC knobs. I had the same in my car, a 2000 Formula where one knob broke and someone sent me a whole set for cheap. They fit and honestly I like them much better. Good deal on the car, enjoy.

Another thing i question, is why does the car look like it's at a dealer with a temp tag that expired on 11/5/08? I thought this is from a private seller.

Welcome!

A few things I see with the car; the A/C compressor isn't there, and whats the point of having a push button ignition when the car wont start unless the clutch is engaged? And AIR and EGR are required in NJ so if you plan on getting it inspected you'll need to replace them. And find out how many miles are on the motor he swapped in, as well as the trans.

yeah, whats that about? its a nice looking car, but funny that he changed his phone numbers and dropped his price right before the temp tag expired?

I just got back... The drive was ok... The weather was better then I expected but still had a little snow.

The idle is pulsing and the car came with a diablosport tuner and it has cams and other bolt ons so I was thinking about getting it tuned. I don't want to spend a ton of money but what would you guys say to do before tuning?

I know some people said get a LS6 intake mani and a SLP lid... Can i do just the SLP lid, will that be "good enough"?

I want a solid tune not just someone half assing it. That being said, where would you go?

Thanks
Matt

Personally, I would go to ECS. They tuned my car when I had it and I was incredibly happy. Do you know if the car had ever been tuned? Frankly I'd sell the diablosport because I have never seen them to be very useful at all. The lid will be good enough for now, but I would look strongly into an LS6 intake, they can be had for ~350 shipped at most on the forums. I wouldn't tune before getting all the parts on that you want. Just my opinion...

EDIT: oh and congrats on the car :D

Glad to hear that you picked it up. The LS6 manifold can be had pretty cheaply(I've seen one for $310 in the classifieds recently) and will really help the cam. I'd take the car to either ECS or TTP, both in jersey. TTP sponsors this site and i've had my car tuned there so I give TTP the edge.

Cool thanks guys! That's what I think I'm going to do. Wait a week or two buy the LS6 mani and SLP lid and get that thing tuned.

I just wen to the dmv to get the title transfered and the registration but the dude who sold it to me checked the box that says something about the mileage being unknown... It's 140k

now I have to try and contact him to get a new title or should I just say F it and just leave it the way it is?

sweetbmxrider
11-20-2008, 02:40 PM
i did, your choice though.

Ktulu990
11-20-2008, 02:49 PM
you did what?

sweetbmxrider
11-20-2008, 02:54 PM
sorry, left the mileage unknown. but in your case, being that the car is so nice, it might be worth it to chase him down for a new title.

Ktulu990
11-20-2008, 03:01 PM
got it thanks... idk it going to be a real pain in the ass... and take a couple weeks i'm sure... how much does it hurt the value (private party resale) if i have the carfax from right before i bought it to show them?

sweetbmxrider
11-20-2008, 03:06 PM
i think it could be rather damaging to the value, though the miles are pretty high. it could turn many buyers away too. its in your best interest to get the title corrected, but not necessary.

Ktulu990
11-20-2008, 03:41 PM
i hear ya thanks

79CamaroDiva
11-20-2008, 03:49 PM
thats high mileage anyhow. i doubt it would hurt resale any worse

Ktulu990
11-20-2008, 04:39 PM
I got it settled now... he has to print something off online and send it to me stating that the box was checked in error.
