Hello NJ fbody ppl. Well I manged to keep away from fbodies for a few years and the bug hit again. My past cars have been: 91 GTA with a 383, 87 GTA with LT1 heads/intake on top of a 355, 94 z28 m6 pretty much stock, stock 94 formula, and another 94 z28 m6 car. Figure I'll give a quick story on how I was dragged back into the world of fbodies.
My g/f and I went to OC MD for muscle car weekend and had a great time. On the trip home she asked me if I'd ever buy another one and my reply was "if i found what I wanted and the price was right". Well a week later looking around on the web I found a 94 z28 6 speed car that looked pretty clean in the pics online. I was not even going to call expecting a trashed car. My g/f ended up calling and setting up a time to meet the guy and check the car out. When we showed up it was in much better shape then I expected it to be in. He took the exhaust from the manifold back off and was going to put a SS magnaflow setup on the car. The car had SLP CAI, Granatelli intake elbow, short throw, Granatelli MAF, and it came with the magnaflow catback. I just could not pass up a chance at another fbody hehe.
Then the fun started.... After getting the car home and getting it in the air to put the exhaust back up I found out why the guy didn't finish the job. He had broken 2 bolts on the manifold on both sides. Took me some time but I got them drilled out on the car so I could use bolts. Finished up that mess and started the car only to find the manifold on the drivers side had a leak. I though to myself "no big deal I'll grab a wrench and tighten them up" only to find 2 bolts had already been broken off. My guess is he tried to pull the manifolds off after breaking the studs and broke those also, giving up on the project! O and also the trans pops out of reverse but didn't notice that when I took it for a test drive.
All in all I'm happy to be back under the hood of the type of car I call home. I wanted to pull the heads and port them anyway, since its not my DDer and its winter I'm going to try and do a DIY port job. Take my time and see how much power I can make myself. I'm still really happy with the buy, the trans fix from what I've read is easy, and the whole car does not even have a single dent.
So yea sorry about the book. I'd post pics but its just your everyday stock LT1 car that is red.
