Eh....they are fancy self cleaning toilets, and they weren't paid for directly with taxpayer money. They were paid for with grant money that was to help homeless people. If I were homeless, I'd be pretty happy about having a nice clean place to sit down and take care of business.

I'm all for doing something nice for the homeless, and understand that the money came from grants.. But I don't see how 5 toilets cost 1.5mil... That is like the government paying 20k for a hammer...

300k each. They had to design them, buy them, build the enclosures, etc.
It costs the govt. a fortune to do anything. (not to mention the paperwork and people they had to pay to fill out the paperwork etc)

300K each isn't just the toilet guys..

it's planning, research, blueprinting, engineering, installation, running water pipes.... it goes on and on.

now if I were homeless i would just get in one of those and camp out there every night.. dunno what's getting done about that.

300k could be well better spent for the homeless than wasting it on a toilet.

I'd bet there are homeless people are smarter than you, their inability to have a place to live doesn't denounce their education.

The US government is like those non-profit organizations that help the poor.

For every dollar they get they spend 90 cents on retreat meetings and salaries.

Yes, but first you have to stop paying your mortgage, buy a Ferrari and then have the Government pay for your house (with my money). 8-)

sooo, 300k each on toilets that clean themselves.....

how much are they saving by not overpaying someone whose job it would be to clean the toilets every day?

sounds worth it
