You need to get housings that accept a bulb, not a sealed beam. Most of the time, its an H4 style bulb needed... and the HID kit itself plug-n-play.

The only proper way to install an HID kit is to find one that includes retrofit projectors from an HID equipped vehicle. Just buying an Ebay kit that comes with HID bulbs to stick in your stock housing is illegal and dangerous.

There is a way to put HIDs in just about anything but how it will perform is what you really need to look at carefully. I've done just about everything from swapping to a better halogen housing, drop-in HID hi-low kit, and what I have now which is a full true bi-xenon retrofit with projectors. Everything has been and will stay plug-n-play including the retrofit I have now. I did not cut any wires.
Here is my drop-in kit with pretty good halogen housings.

You can modify the stock housings and glue in a set of lamps but I find this really cheesy and poorly executed in most cases. Some drop in kits as you see my old setup worked fairly well but nothing like the projectors I have now. Glare is a common issue with these setups and the only solution is to aim the lamps way down which is kind of defeating the point.
