Combine the two powers...
Jay Leno should host Top Gear USA.

Agreed.
NightRider is just a crappy series and in no drastic way compares to Top gear.

There is talk that it will now end up on SPEED. Great, more not racing shows to jam in between endless nascrap replays

I would love to see it on Speed. That would be a logical move.
I say NBC rethinks it, give it to Leno. Leno can then run with it.
You have a big name that people love, you have an amazing show about cars, not to metion that Jay Leno owns every car known to man.
How the NBC asshats cant put 2 and 2 together is beyond me.
Instead, you will have the non-Tonight show with Jay leno at 10, and then the Tonight Show with Conan at 1130.
NBC/GE, stop being stupid.

SPEED is just going to bury it between nascr shows and more lame spin offs of pinks. It is dead.

my opinions:
1- Top Gear is fantastic as it is. If they just re-broadcast it here, it would probably do well, and they wouldn't have to worry about writing for it.
2- If NBC tried to remake the show, it will suck. I have yet to see a "remake" tv show that didn't blow big time.
3- I agree about Jay Leno taking the entire project on... he would do it justice.
4- What about moving it to Spike, into the Horsepower TV slot or whatever its called?

Thats what I was thinking, then I could watch it, not that I ever do watch the others because I am usually sleeping.....

Super bikes is an interesting show, but why is it on tonight? Oh yeah, because SPEED did away with two wheel tuesdays.
I liked the way SpeedVision did it, all weekend was racing and real racing news. The filler stuff was on here and there during the week while they were showing the taped SCCA stuff and the odd racing stuff that they would throw in every once in a while.
I can't tell you the last time they showed an entire DTM race, or the Aussie Touring or Super Touring Cars, or FIA Rally, or any number of other series that they have rights to. The SCCA Run Offs were 2 months ago and so far they have only shown about 10 classes of the racing that they have exclusive rights to, what are they waiting for?

I love top gear. USA version might be awsome and would show more american cars without making fun of them or comparing them to cars that cost twice as much.
Fixed that for ya. :)
That is my one complaint about top gear. The compare a $75k Z06 to a $125K Ferrari and talked about how much less refined the Corvette is. Well no ****, for $50k I could figure out how to fit more features into a car too.
Like the replay they showed today pitting a base Mustang GT against a Lotus Exige that costs $16k more sticker. Guess what, the Lotus was quicker.....duh! The Lotus was not loaded up with luxury features and magically they failed to bring up the number of standard luxury feature things this time.

Yeah well the Lotus is a lot less HP than the GT too, and the price is only inflated because of the American government. Dollar for Dollar without import taxes they are actually about in the same ballpark in cost. Exige is way better for the buck

When was the last time they aired rally, I remember watching it religiously when I was a freshman in highschool, its been a few years. And I agree, they jsut highlight SCCA, and FIA except F1, ALMS, adn Le Mans, and most importantly to me, the Monteray Historics, they are playing one class race at a time... what happened to airing the hwole thing ,that pisses me off so much!! Speed lost me really. Pinks is the gayest show ever, they dude knows NOTHING of racing, let alone ride a bike, and all they are showing is this pinks all out, wasent it supposed to be a superbowl type thing for them, but it was such a huge hit its now going around like the regular pinks? and noone is loosing their ride, so how is it pinks, they are jsut winning money. Unique is gay, the monster truck racing is as played out as wrestling, and NASCAR, I liked itbetter when Speed DIDNT have the rights to air their stuff.....

WRC has slacked big time getting schedules and TV contracts together in time, which is why there has been very little rally coverage lately.

All Speed ever hosted of WRC was basically a daily highlight show. It's not like they came in live from any rally. They just used host footage and slapped together an hour of racing out of the 6-8 hours of daily stages.

I got that info many months ago from a WRC press release about the lack of TV coverage.

Which was awsome. I dont want it live, I like a nice highlighted show. I dont like watching thee speed report where they have all of 2 minutes on it, I loved it when it was its own show showing everything, showing stats, ans ****. But you gotta admit NASCAR was the biggest mistake to ever befallen on Speed. Its bad enough every other product you pick up has their name on it, the drivers are sellouts, its so bland anymore, and is covered by two other major TV stations, last thign we need is the weekdays covering the highlights of last weeks race, and then post race shows... God I hate NASCAR so mauch anymore. I used to be a diehard fan, but it sucks so bad.

I loved those dtm races and the touring cars. I used to watch the wrc rally cars too till they got rid of it. they need to bring them back.

Before the cable around here had the SPEED Channel, they featured it on their preview channel. I was hooked as soon as I saw it. F1, WRC, Offshore powerboat racing, drag racing, dirt track and the occasional program about cars(muscle cars, sports cars, or supercars) or the history of racing. Before there was programming about everything, now it's very Nascrap-centric. Oh yeah, and f()@* Barret-Jackson!
