thats very good news if you ask me. the old nox sold like hotcakes when it came out and i would own one right now but the demand was so high that they were selling at msrp all day even in second year of production. that lead me to the better equiped saturn anyway. now its the chevy thats better equiped.

Well, we will find out soon enough.
This would be the first time the Nox has a 4cyl under the hood, but its power rating is just about the same as the 3.4 60* V6 it replaces.
The DI'ed 3.0 and 2.4 are great news.

I dont think the price will vary that much, but a loaded one will probably get up there.

There are real live pics of the Nox. My goodness that brown color is pretty, and that interior is really really sharp.

Enclave is bigger. You are thinking of the new Chevy Traverse that is built on the same platform as the Enclave.

This is a smaller 5 passanger SUV, more in the market of the Rav4, Ford Edge, Nissan Murano, and the upcoming Toyota Venza or something like that. Everyone expected this thing to grow, but it actual shrunk an inch in overal length, yet gained some width, which it needed real bad. My biggest gripe with the current one is that its very narrow looking from the rear.

10k? Maybe a loaded Nox vs a base Enclave.

Chevy really has its own type of SUV right here. Only other CUV that fits in this segment is the Rav4, maybe the Escape. The Edge, Murano are V6 only, and geared more towards sport.
CRV, Rougue, and CX7 are 4cyl models only, yet the CX7 has that powerful turbo 4.

The Rav4 is a more civil SUV while the Escape is bit more truckish. All of them offer a 4 and 6cyl engine.

This is a really really sharp SUV. Real sharp. I cant wait to see the GMC Terrain.

The next gen Caddy SRX will be built on a bit more advanced platform the Nox, and carry some more advanced stuff. It was shown last year as that Caddy Hyrdorgen-Plug In concept.

yeah I would agree with that.

The new NOX is nice, the only thing im not too thrilled about is how every vehicle has almost the same front end. Im not saying its not sweet, but a little variety wouldnt hurt. If this was out when my mom bought her malibu she would have def bought this instead. Heck, I want one.

No. I'm thinking of the Enclave. But I do like the Traverse better than this new Equinox. I just about barf anytime I see those small SUVs like the Rav4 and Murano. Vehicles in that segment look awkwardly stuck some where between cars in the Vibe/Matrix and Traverse/Enclave segments.

I'd still go for the Enclave. For $10k more figure you're getting more room, refinement, and better styling with the Buick.

john- i know what you mean, but small SUVs are extremely useful. if you ask me, small nimble SUVs suit my driving style much better. they are still capable enough to tow my landscaping trailer and get me into the trails. these are things a car cannot do. sure a large SUV would be better suited, but then again i like to drive swiftly and park in cities, considering most grad schools i applied to are in major cities.

the point being that while a large suv is enormously (pun intended) useful, smaller SUVs are equally useful for others. i don't think i'll be shopping for a new car for a very long time, its nice to see i'll have a nice offering when i'm in the market years from now and i can purchase one of these used at a heavy discount.

Vue is smaller in every direction, and on a slightly different platform.
In and out, totaly different cars yet they compete in the same class.

Encalve, Traverse, Acadia and Outlook are all crossover 7 passanger vehicles designed to somewhat replace or retain people jumping out of thier Tahoes, Yukons along with other large SUV's.

The Nox is, IMO, a perfect sized vehicle. It was second place to the Maxx when I was looking to get a new car.

Same guy who designed this...

His name is Tom Peters, and he is now in charge of all design for RWD peroformance vehicles.

And the Avalanch is a great looking truck.

Different platform. Vue is on some European Theta platform, while the Nox is on Theta 2.
There are 3-4 variants of the platform out there...

the new nox is gonna be awesome. i can't wait to see it at the car show. they really did address every complaint i can think of about my vue. for example:

1. road and wind noise (i assume they fixed this, no new car could get away with being that loud)
2. small gas tank (15.5 vs 21, and not to mention better efficiency)
3. brakes (nox has 4 wheel discs)
4. crappy interior (duh)

My mom is looking currently at getting the new Vue or the Ford Edge, but I told her to hold out for this. Im gunna show her pics of it today.

Also, here is a sweet teaser video of the new SRX on GM's Black Lake

yup. i saw that on autoblog. interesting PR if you ask me. there was alot of complaints about the new SRX being based on the vue, but i admit that it would be pretty cool to see a theta SRX and a lambda Escalade. if they could pull it off to still retain its gangster image, i think it would make a good lineup for caddy.

both the nox and that caddy look sweeet

The Vue's platform, the Nox, and the SRX are all on different platforms. Theta-Epsilon, the platform that the SRX and 9-4 will sit on, is different in driving aspects, handling, feel and ride.

Problem is that the current SRX is on a very well planted RWD based Sigma platform. It handles well, and its upgraded interior is sharp, but thats about all it does well. Sales are dismal, so IMO, the SRX going to a FWD-ish based platform should be a bit more of a sales success as customers come to see the more fitting CUV style instead of that kind-of-a-wagon, tall-like-an-suv, current SRX.

i hear the old SRX was one of the few great GM cars that never caught on. i think what killed it was the engine choices. the V6 was underpowered and had awful gas mileage. the v8 was expensive and had even worse gas mileage.

i want a nox. i don't think its any secret at this point

Chevy seems to be doing that with a lot of their stuff these days. I remember seeing the bowtie on the headlights of the new Malibu too....
