Yeah I met the owner once at the Wycoff Car Show, he seemed pretty nice but payed out the butt for it last I heard. Jim or Ted have video of it starting up and revving.

I know where two of the IROC TransAms that never got raced are as well as the second gen Camaro that Andretti wadded up back in the day :)

They actually belong to a guy that runs a shady little used car lot in Ewing. He is a nice guy and takes great care of the cars. One late model is a super speedway car, one is a short track car, and the second gen sits in road course trim but when he bought it enough spares came with it to set it up for any configuration.

probably the same guy who took it to the free e-town track day weekend. he had no idea how to drive it, ended up spinning off several times. packed up and left.

that thing is awesome! i love how all of the gauges are tilted for oval track

The gauges are tilted so that a needle pointing straight up means all is well. All the driver has to know is that he sees the orange bar pointing up and all is well.

They are both all in white still, no graffics ever applied. If the car on teh free day was all white with a pudgy, gray bearded white guy driving, it may have been him.

really? then why have the tach like that? i thought its because its an oval track car and constantly turning left, it would make sense to have the gauges angled with your line of vision. i have no idea though.

I am pretty sure Tim is right. When you are driving a circle track car your head isn't "banked" so you wouldn't angle the gauges for that reason. They are turned so that "normal" is in the center, and that applies to the tach as well. "OK" engine speed is in the center, "too slow" is probably to the left, and "too fast" is to the right.

true. i would think with the bank of the track and looking off of the driverside corner of the hood, it would work for that reason. but tims still makes sense, since it is a track car too.

It is just the easy way to make it a quick glance solution instead of having to read/process any information.

I will stop over and talk to him one day this week. He is a cool dude, enjoys talking about the cars and the racing he has been involved in over the years.

That would be most excellent. And the guys on Nasty Z would go nuts over the pix and stories too :)
