Sorry in advance for the long story.
As Some of you know i bought an '85 camaro in November. For those who don't know the story here is a run down of my fun.
I bought it for $350 and for that price it was a good deal from its condition. I noticed when we agreed on the price that the kid didn't sign over the title to his name. Seeing this i made a verbal agreement with this kid that any issues with the title it will become his problem and he will have to get it resolved. We shook hands i gave him the money and he gave me the title. i went back the next night and trailered the car home.
The next week i tried to go and get the title work done at the DMV. I was denied and was told that someone tried to sign in the lien holder's line and crossed it out. So i called the kid back and told him the problem and said he needed to find the original owner that he bought the car off of and get him to make a letter stating that he f 'd up and get it notarized. He said he would get it done and mail it to me.
So after about a month of me waiting and calling looking for answers and getting no where, a certain couple of members from here and I decided to go down to his house and threaten him about going to the cops if i didn't get this resolved that night. Well when i went and started to say i was going to the cops, his mother jumped up and decided to help her kid fix this. So we decided to go to the original owners house and get this letter made out and signed. Well that kid wasn't home and his mother told me it would be taken care of the next day.
Next day comes and it still wasn't done. So now i have lost my patients. The original owner's mother said to give another 24 hrs. and she will get it done for me. So the next day it was finally done, and i went down again and went to pick it up. Well when i arrived to their house at the time they told me to be there (1:00 pm) no one would answer the door and their dog was going nuts in their house. So i get back in the GMC and call the mother pretty much going to blow and the kid opens the door and waves me down. He said "sorry i work the night shift and didn't hear you knock." I wanted to beat this kid with a toaster but what ever i was just glad to get the title paperwork in order.
So finally today I went to the DMV,since it was the first time i had cash and time to go, and get the title done. So i went during my lunch break and got satin's wife "helping" me there. She says that the letter is fine and that everything as in order and then oh, i am sorry i can't accept this because the mileage is lower than the last odometer reading of 193,*** miles. I only wrote 21,*** on the title since the third gens don't have 100k on the odometers and i didn't want them to find any problems and never had any previous issues when doing the same thing before. So i took the title and wrote a 2 in front of the 21,*** expecting her to deny it since it was a fraudulent odometer reading, but the bug crawled out of her a$$ and she gave me a new title.
So the long story short i finally got my title fixed after waiting 2 months.

i had the odometer in my formula read 062000 or something like that. so that is what we wrote on the title. dmv denied me saying the car came in from pa at 143000. but the odometer states 062000. dmv wanted me to change it to 162000. i said you are asking me to forge a statement that isnt true. and that i commit a federal crime punishable by law? she says. no im asking you to ammend the odometer statement. so instead of arguing. i just wanted my damn title. i think someone made an error when the last transfer went through. damn dmv:evil:

decent car!

I got screwed like that too, almost exactly, except the original owner of the car/title never answered my phone calls or anything of the such. so i had to get the state involved and go through this two month process of legally changing the title without a signature. that sucked.

The car is very solid, it has been here since he got it, and I cant wait to start working on it. The thing is gonna move with that 400! Glad that its finally yours man, and that you didn't kill anyone at DMV.
