Tired of going to places like Autozone.

Does anyone know of any good big auto parts store chains in the NJ area?

I am looking for a good old auto (speed) parts store
one that stocks header gaskets and stuff like that and the people working behind the counter don't have an attitude and knows what an LS1 Camaro
or TA looks like.

Good prices would be good too.

thanks all!!!!!!

nothing if all you want to do is swap oil and plugs.

I am looking for more than an oem type parts swapping store.

I want a place that you can get your nitrous bottle refilled,
stocks high performance gaskets,
sells slicks,
does places like that even exist anymore?

im sure there are some speed shops around you. up here as far as chain stores go, we have advance, napa, pepboys, autozone. we have a few decent mom and pops speed shops as well. what are you looking for anyway

Gotcha
We do stock some high performance gaskets,, but dont sell tires or fill bottles.

Driver's FX on Rt 22 in Whitehouse Station.

The Zone is good for some stuff but I've actually refused parts from them, like trans filters and fuel filters.

Whats up with the trans/fuel filters?

Nothing really (I was very polite when I said no thank you), but they just looked like REALLY cheaply made imported parts. For all I know they could have worked just fine... but they just looked like something that would fail earlier than I would like.

There a bunch of little stores around me that are extremely knowledgeable and always helpful. Eds on Hamburg turnpike by Bloomingdale, Circle auto parts on rt. 23 south, and Harringtons on 23 north.

The internet has priced the local speed shop out of existence. There are a few places around that keep a thing or two in stock, but usually they struggle to compete on price.

Roadrunners is good, but they are a little pricey and there store is small but at least you have a few guys in there that know what there talking about. But I have to agree the chain auto parts store around here just are crap. No one knows there a** from there elbow anymore and they just dont have the stock they used to have. Every time I go to one of these places and need something besides oil and a filter or something similar they dont have its always gotta be ordered.

When I was looking for my fuel filter I called up the local mom & pop place and they said if I came back to them with a price from someone else they'd try and match it. Their price was a little high but they were lowballed by autozone. Called back and the guy couldn't match it but appreciated my business
