Is the interior sound of the GMMG system quieter than the LM2.

LM resonates through the car more

So the GMMG unit will be more tolerable in the car? Would you know if it sounds good on an LT1

Sounds great on a LS1, can only sound better on a LT1.

Its all opinion. What sounds great to me, may sound irritating to you. The LM2 is has some interior drone, but its not bad. I never personally experienced riding in F-Body with a GMMG. But I've heard them and they sound great.

What car are you putting it on and how is it going to be used?

What is tolerable in your race car could be considered annoying when you are riding without a helmet on.

GMMG can get old with the interior noise, it does have a bit of a drone to it. I bet it's very similar to the LM2, I'm sure it's quieter than the LM1.

It is going on my 96 Z28 LT1 and is a daily driver with attitude

If it is on a daily driver I would avoid all of the glass pack(resonator) based systems. LM, GMMG, TSP Rumbler. They will all drone in the interior and don't add anything over the performance of a good sounding chambered muffler.

speaking from LT1 experience, i love my lm1. i don't think the drone is terrible, rather tolerable to my young ears :D i have never personally heard a lm2. i have ridden in an LT1 with a GMMG catback and it sounds AWESOME!!! i like it more than my lm1, it is definitely much quieter than a lm1, you can talk rather easily in a gmmg car compared to a lm1 car, and did i mention its sounds awesome on an lt1?? if you have the money, i would splurg!

doing a quick 1-10 of most tolerable to least tolerable on lm1 vs gmmg i would rate them as:

LM1 - 7.5-8 - it has its times where you won't like it, like trying to talk to a ladyfriend on the highway. only exhausts worst would be a cut out or open headers.

GMMG - 5.5-6 - the ability to talk while driving is nice. sounds great. very tolerable.

Stock - 3.5-4 - just for comparison. its no mercedes or honda note

isn't a gmmg muffler a fully chambered muffler?

Not really, they are just glass packs with dents in them.

The GMMG is chambered pipe (perforated pipe within a pipe), not a glasspack. A chambered muffler is like the Flowmaster style that breaks it into differet "chambers". The LM1 is the most obnoxious cat-back you can get for the 4th gen cars. You don't want that on a daily driver. The GMMG isn't as bad but get to you after a 1+ hour drive. Short to medium drives it sounds great and will put a smile on your face. Plus it's stainless so that may help justify the cost compared to other aluminzed cat-backs that are cheaper.

I have the LM2 on my Hawk. It has a slight drone, but not bad, nothing like the regular LM. It's actually rather quiet when cruising at highway speeds...just a deep note, but comes alive when you step on it.
