So, after a full year of not racing, my dad and I decided that last year sucked. I decided I want to run super comp in the Lucas oil series in division 1. After a year of sitting, we had to pull engine and trans and send them to their respective builders.
We were already talking about upgrading the heads from the street heads that were on it to Indy 440-1 heads. When we walked into the engine shop he had a set of Indy 572 heads that happened to be laying there for someone else. After a full 10 mins of deliberation it was pretty much set we would go that route :)
The difference from what I ran 2 years ago to those heads with a 700+ lift cam should pick me up from 7.80-7.90 to 7.40-7.50. Or for divisionals sake, 8.90@180ish.
The catch? I have to go back to work for my dad and put up with our sometimes volatile relationship. We get along great.. sometimes. The rest of the time we want to kill each other. The other catch, which isn't so much a catch as a perk is he's "making me" go back and run the Mitchell races at Atco as well.
Should be a fun year. :D

Well, congrats on getting 'seat time' again....and I guess mixed emotions about working with pops again....guess you'll just have to grin and bear it and hope for the best (winning).

we're guessing around 1800 w/o me. the car is about 3 inches too long to fit on our scale. one day maybe ill jack up the nose on the scale and see what it is.

Thats awesome, I don't know how you made it through lat year without racing. If any of you guys havent seen her race/drive before, this is not a girl you want to mess with! Any updates on the track? I am going to try and make it to the drivers meeting too.

My Friend and I have seen her race and she is a fierce competitor. Fortunate for him she red-lighted but he was nervous until that round was over.Good luck on the new combination hope u can get any "bugs" resolved quickly, and be in the winners circle in no time.

Thanks for the ego strokes guys! And I hope a lot of you who haven't ever come out do. The divisional races there's a lot of down time waiting for the different classes, the Mitchell races there's a lot of racing followed immediately by a lot of drinking. It's always fun :)

I never ran the Indy heads on my 440s, just worked over stockers, but I always heard great things about them.
Look at it this way, with last years gas prices, not having to tow to races for the season wasn't such a bad thing. Won't take a few passes to knock the rust off and you'll be ready!
Good luck!

Yeah, you're right, and since the motorhome gets roughly 7-10 mpg towing with diesel, it would have cost a fortune to tow down to atco and back 6ish times..
As far as Indy heads, thats what we had on it, but they were Indy street heads (B-1 iirc) that were donated from my dad's Super Bee he WAS building before my racing career started getting more expensive. Now he can have his heads back ;) however, the original 440, well.. that didn't have the same storybook ending...
