Watching it now.
Plane took off at 3:26 eastern, Flight 1549, bound for NC. Apparently experienced an extreme bird strike with a large flock and put out 2 engines. Went glider style into the Hudson River. Ferry boat leaving NJ rerouted instantly and got to the plane in only a few minutes. Emergency response on scene in under ten minutes.
Everyone is reported as having gotten off the plane. 146 passengers, and 5 crew.

Incredible job by the pilots to ge thtat plane down, I've always feared hitting the water. I've seen first hand what birds can do to a plane, years ago a C-5 hit a flock of snow geese and barely made it back (shelled out 3 engines and did 75 Million in damage to the plane) and of course the poor AWACS in anchorage that wasn't so lucky. People don't understand it is like getting hit by a rocket, it is definately no joke. Thank god everyone survived, hopefully noone dies from hypothermia

Imagine being in that plane for a business trip and then having to explain to your boss why you're not at the meeting tomorrow...
"well, you see, my jet was taken down by a flock of birds.."

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN 'WHY DID I MISS THE MEETING?' DO YOU WATCH THE ****ING NEWS?!?!?! PLANE + BIRD = WATER!!! SOUND FAMILIAR?!?!?!.."
I know I could possibly be slightly keyed up after such an experience and I have the feeling the conversation would look more like that.

Anyone catch the press conference?
A reporter asked if there was any way it could have been a terrorist attack. The reporter said eye witnesses told her they heard a loud boom.
Seriously, WTF!? Is she retarded or something? A flock of geese being sucked into a turbine engine will create a extreme audible boom.
Its those darn terrorist Canadian geese. I demand we invade Canada right now.

The pilot did handle that exceptionally. plus his landing was the best it could have been since the plane seemed like it didn't sustain too much damage..... to stay afloat that long. I hope i have that guy the next time i fly overseas!

I agree. When the news interviewed people who witnessed it they said it was so smooth which added to the "wtf" expressions lol
