Alright guys and gals its that time for me to get a new DD!
I want to spend no over 15K!
Just need a car that has a lil pep to it and good on gas.
I have been considering:
VW GTI turbo
Mazda CX-7 turbo
Mini S
Cobalt SS
and open to other suggestion no TT or miata's need some space for passengers and cargo.

CX-7 the SUV? Kind of an odd vehicle for a line up consisting of compacts sedans.
I assume you mean Cobalt SS/SC or the NA ones.
Out of that list, Id say Mini.
If you want good handling, but not so much power, look at the Saturn Astra.

I'd stay away from the GTI, anyone I know with a VW has more problems with it than they can count

That's what I was thinking but can you swing an Astra for 15k?
edit:: Yes, you can.. http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/searchresults.jsp?num_records=25&search_lang=en&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&search_type=both&distance=50&address=07430&marketZipError=false&style_flag=1&make=SATURN&model=ASTRA&make2=&start_year=1981&end_year=2010&min_price=6000&max_price=16000&seller_type=b&transmission=&engine=&drive=&doors=&fuel=&max_mileage=&color=&keywordsrep=&keywordsfyc=&keywords_display=&sort_type=priceDESC&body_code=0&certified=&advanced=&highlightFirstMakeModel=&showZipError=n&default_sort=priceDESC&awsp=false&keywordsrep=&keywordsfyc=&systime=&rdm=1232229152046

i'd personally stay away from germans. they tend to be expensive to repair.

Astra is standard with 5spd manual
Cobalt SS turbo are only the new ones, and are in teh 20-22k range. Deffinatly a powerful car, and probably best in its class performance wise. Interior materials are so so for the segment.

oh yeah they are sweet cars. great creature comforts in the interiors with nice features here and there. its just they tend to be costly to repair and they don't have wheel studs :-x

Found a possible new DD going to gl test drive it this week!
Personally I believe this car to be better looking than the cobalt SS and yet is still a Supercharged GM product, and interior is better too

Inteiror materials are equal, Ion's center mounted guages are odd, but no doubt the Ion RL is overlooked so much.

Yeah, they were, then they werent, and then they realized that they could do more, and they ran out of money, and now Saturn is back up in the air.

EPIC FAIL on CARFAX!
When I bought my truck the carfax came back clean, after I bought it I noticed some overspray in the door jamb, so I figured ok someone got a dent and had it taken care of since nothing else seemed to be repainted. Well Today when I test drove the saturn.... which I loved btw highly recommend it. My carfax on the truck came back with a big accident! Apparently the whole side of the truck was hit. So the dealership low balled the ***** out of my truck on trade in making it unattainable for me to buy the car. The truck drives straight, has no alignment problems, or tire ware since I have replaced the original tires, brakes, and steering.
So Im screwed out of my car that I wanted.

 It takes a certain period of time (something like 6 mos.) for the accident to show up on carfax, and what's worse is if the repairs never went through the insurance it would never show up.

I rather that the repairs werent on the carfax cause then I would have my car that I want!
