It was a charity car sale so the price is meaningless. It's a tax writeoff and bragging rights I guess. :shrug: That's why it's tough to look at the sale prices afterwards if you don't know the story behind the car on the auction block. Supposedly the first 55 T-Bird was auctioned off for $600K again in some form of charity or donation, but it was serial # 005 and apparently # 004 is out there.

i saw that part and that is true. but like you say it's just a write off for these people who can afford these cars.

the car on the block was one of the show cars, they winner gets to order theirs.
jeff the thunderbird money stayed with the sellers, and they had documentation that it was indeed the first tbird in the form of a letter from ford, apparently 1-4 were wagons and some sedan and not thunderbirds

From what I'm hearing that documentation they have pre-dates the finding of #4.

$60K for the Pace Truck. The paperwork for the 55 said it was the first availbale to the public but that was before 004 was located.
