It clicked to my mind today, an idea.. And I am just throwing it up in the air to see what you guys think.. It's a ways from summer, but if we get a head start we might be able to do this. Get this club together at a certain check point, and then take it from there to are destination. I dont know, the shore, drive the entire park way.. But ofcourse without screwn around on the road with other cars, etc. That is the only way that this will be a true cruise..
And also invite other f-bod clubs as well..
So let me know what everyone thinks, and see if we could pull something like this together.

That is what I was thinking of. A reasonable starting point, or 2 that would be fair to everyone. I guess that would be somewere In central jersey. We also need to find a date that would be free of any event. And I guess a rain date also just incase..

im down if im still around ...park way may be a bad idea though ... lots of traffic and ure asking for trouble from the police im on the parkway all the time and they see me go by and it just screams pull me over mostly when im not doing anything wrong, route 9 runs pretty far north and south ... but thats mostly one lane ... just throwing that out there

why not try to have it an organized event like the time the troopers shut down the turnpike or the parkway for a stretch for the corvette owners cruise. i know a few high ranking people in the west trenton barracks that might be able to grease these wheels

I know its tempting for the cops, but what can they do if you obey the rules and stay in the right lane.. Nothing right? Remember its a only a cruise, where not out there to temp each other or others.. If we stick to that will be just fine.

would anyone be interested in turning this into a charity style event? i spoke with a friend with the State Police and said it sounds like an awesome idea but the only way your gonna get the NJSP involved is if there is a charity aspect.

is anyone interested in throwing some money in to donate to have a section of the parkway shut down for our specific cruise use.

heres footage to a similar event featuring vettes in NJ

NastyEllEssWon
01-26-2009, 05:14 PM
well we'd need a bit more people to get interested in this. in the cruise some were driving at speeds of excess of 170 mph and there was 0 accidents. some stuck to the slower speeds cruising down and enjoying the ride, its all in the style you want to drive...but it deffinately seems something worthwhile to look into. id be willing to donate a c-note to rip ass down the parkway with the police ok

Anyone have an idea of how much they raised? i mean to shut down part of the parkway it must have "cost" a good amount $$$

NastyEllEssWon
01-26-2009, 08:40 PM
well i figured it would probably be a donation of like 100 bucks per car. a few hundred cars. they raise a few grand for some parkway charity raising. sounds like it could swing again. this time with the fbodies woot

madness410
01-26-2009, 11:20 PM
whoa whoa whoa haha...i have no problem supporting the NJSP but 100$ a car is pretty steep, and its not really a garuntee that they will close off part of any roads for us.

I do like the meet and eat idea like the GONE people do, maybe we can have a car show like they do and raise money for something to attract people. but i mean thats going way off topic for a 100 car cruise as the original idea was.

NastyEllEssWon
01-26-2009, 11:22 PM
im just guessing at how much they donated per car. i was just throwing that out there in case anyone wanted to set it up as a speed unlimited cruise which would be fun. it would be kinda tough to roll down the highway 100 deep with normal traffic patterns

z28rob18
01-27-2009, 06:32 AM

There are more beaches guys.. Barnigate wich is a very long island and a ton of things to do, and does kinda fall in the midle of jersey. Island beach state park thats another good one. Belmar further N, thats another good one.. That is all abouts in the midle jersey. I love Cape May but it might be a little ways for some of us here. my firebird is in crap condition but if i get it back from the shop in time and it still runs. i might be able to join.

i'm in somerville nj, central nj. i know all the major highways in nj though so it'd just be a factor of distance and location.

she has no a/c so it'll be a damned killer.
my woman and her 06' suzuki aerio would follow with.

Edit: i can get to the point pleasant area. about 56miles from me. maybe a bit farther.
i will need to find money for gas, thats all i can afford. if its a cruise, i held up with another car running down to the pine barrens to do some 4wd. keeping a crapload of Fbodies together wouldn't be too hard. hold up keep speed and dont let the line break up too much. the parkway isn't always too bad. lots of lanes. island beach state park? damn summer traffic around the shore roads will be absolute hell.

EditEdit: would it be ok to invite another class of cars, if any of them are interested? www.aeriostyle.com

We have lots of time to arange all this, its only Feb.. Like I said this was just an idea that came to my mind, and from what it lookes like we are getting quite a few good feedbacks in here. IBSP is just an area that I was thinking as many others I pointed out.. I have been in IBSP before, and yes it is hell to get thrue them gates when summer comes along, and I very much doubt that will be going thrue them gates. So lets just keep on plugn for now and see what will we come up with. I am thinking that about end of April will be a good time to give an actual date for the cruise. And we need to make sure that there are no major events going on, on the date that we will agree to.

you should see the puerto rico transformer club. their aerio's are nuts.
http://www.aeriostyle.com/
we're crazy. went into the pine barrens with the AWD and ended up in cranberry things. all scratched up and in mud but didnt get stuck.

and the aerio's, if any wanted, would just be extra cars, bigger group. it doesn't matter to me, i will have 1 though because i have a family and the firebird's back seats are not for full grown adults.

i can't donate to a charity though. and will only join up if the bird is running, she has a bad carburator, they said replace, i said how much, i said i'm broke. will it hurt it? forgot the answer.

Edit: stalls when cold, runs when hot and was driveable when went into shop for lots other work. "strangly passed inspection with flying colors"

We have to see how the planning goes before we can decide how many cars we are going to have space for.

fallenleader
02-03-2009, 10:03 PM
space? the nearest walmart parking lot should hold 200+ cars. seriously though, what type of event and space will be there and needed? preliminary of course. i was half expecting a drive down the highway, a stop look about the cars, a little hey what did you do to yours, hey yours is nice, and then a bye bye. nj beaches cost money as far as i know, and crowded. so that should be a no.

if you randomly pull into a retail businesses parking lot with over 100 cars, they will have major issues with that. it prevents CUSTOMERS from being able to park

Poker Runs are when you drive from point to point, stopping along the way at various locations. Each stop you get a random card from the deck they have at that spot. At the end of the run, whoever puts the best hand together wins a prize.

easy part first, ftw= for the win

a poker run is a cruise where you figure out certain checkpoints (5+) along the route. at these checkpoints everyone participating gets a playing card (hence the "poker" name) and once at the final meet location, the person with the winning poker hand wins.
its something done as a fundraiser or charity event, where the winner, or top x amount of finishers take so much money, and the rest is donated to whichever charity the event is for

poker run sounds fun. and no the guys i know plus me are not ricers. we have little lunchbox cars but they don't have coffee cans on the asses. the one was stripped out for autocross and mine was polished up real nice. the biggest thing is a new custom turbo that should put us up to over 200hp. they don't street race. and personally i make fun of those rusted out cars with a big muffler and a 12yrold at the wheel.

a photo of our trip into the pines. this was on a road. not on the trails we had to reverse out of. it was for kicks. the other is a photo pasted on my firebird, its not photoshopped just waxed well. the aerio was shined up for show at an autocross at raceway park.

i digress, done explaining that its not a daycare.

sounds awesome, im totally in, i'll save us some of my days off to use if im scheduled to work. sounds awesome, i'll bring the 87 iroc for sure, and ihave about 4-10 other fbodies who would be interested.. some may go, some would LOVE to go..

how about a cruise to ENGLISHTOWN RACEWAY PARK or sumthing? they have lots of space on the grassy area, we could watch some racing.. its SOMEWHAT of a central location, and might work out cool on a day where the tracks wouldnt be packed for a major event...we could cruise a good 50 miles or so before / after etc...just an additional idea to throw in the mix

We suggest you tune your car properly :p

It won't be a long cruise the way things are shaking out. Enough to enjoy, but not enough to require a bunch of gas stops.

if everyone went to raceway park, it'd be a meet for some of us. still fine, raceway is awsome. do it on an open night so some can run the track, those who would already know the regulations.

NJSPEEDER

This isn't a track kind of thing we are working on. A lot of us do go to the track regularly, but this event won't have anything to do with a track

ok so im not trying to offend anyone but we all live in jersey and we all know the shore in the summer time is gonna be stupid packed ... so why dont we do something like high point ... we can all meet somewhere in like central cruise up the parkway to rt 46 take 46 to 23 take 23 all the way to the point and if anyone here has been on 23 you know its a kick ass road and you can do one better ... take it through port jervis and along the scenic biway along the Deleware to hawks nest if anyone knows what im talking about i had the absolute best time of my life up there with my car the view is amazing nice little town and if you've been to high point you know the photo opps are unbeatable and better than beach as much as i love the shore toss that one back and forth i think that seems more pheasable

fallenleader
03-02-2009, 09:16 PM
a lot of people are from south jersey, and im from somerville which highpoint is still an hour away.
probably more in the bird since she likes to relax and not speed. weird car...

foxriderry
03-02-2009, 09:26 PM
is an hour to long? i mean it would obviously be a full day thing ... but at the same time im from up north cruising all the way down south would be a rough one ... but like i just dont really see the shore as a great place i dunno maybe its just me

fallenleader
03-02-2009, 09:33 PM
i left it out of my post, its not too long for me. but too long for someone debating a run down from atlantic city to the beach.

north would be a second meet.

Guys, I dont know what is going on.. When I first put the idea out in Jan almost 90% of us loved the idea.. I was told by moderatores that this event would be put together. I got in touch with them again and I was told within a couple of weeks the plan would be up.. It has been 2 months now without a response.. I would love to see something like this too take place, but the way things look i dont know, June is around the corner.. I would recommend to get in touch with them and see.

I have no idea what is going on.. I would say the "100 F-Bod Cruise" is dead in the water.. Everything looked promising too! We did have alot of good feed back on this thread, and just from this one club wich is great!!!...
They did liked the idea, and they said we are going to do this, and that, and map everything out... yadayadayada! :|
It would be nice to know what is going on...
Well, I guess we could still do this one day in the near future.. But if you guys want to push it for this summer I would recomend to get in touch with them..

why dont we just organize one on this forum. Seems like we had alot of feedback just from our guys. May not be as much, but we can always just post up on our other forums trying to recruite more people. I just need to know a day so i can take off of work and get about a hundred bucks to blow on gas.

the problem is co-ordination of such an event you would have to notify local authorities as to whats going on...there might even be red tape and hoops to jump through beings it might possibly be considered a parade of some sorts.

the biggest problem is that when these events are done by other organizations theyre usually for charity and require some sort of donation to get the ball rolling and eyes to look the other directions.

cant spin the wheels if you dont grease the bearings

NastyEllEssWon

go to page 3 when everyone starts dropping out cause it might be a bit of a donation. im guessing anywhere between 50-100 a car would get the ball rolling. i have quite a few connections very high up in the state police and can help get the ball rolling...but its gonna have to be a charity event.

whatever moderator that wants to put this together is more than welcome to contact me and i can do some legwork on finding out what it will take.

Too bad we couldnt organize this to head to the Gm Nationals in carlisle.. They have been trying for years to get the Firebird community to come out and show up the camaro for once..The most they have gotton was just over 200 firebirds when almost 700 camaros show up.

i dont see why we cant just all meet somewhere and take a drive...its not illegal to drive, we dont need to organize anything with police, we dont need them to block off roads or anything...just a bunch of guys getting together and driving there cars

This seems like the best idea. only planning necessary is where to meet. Charity is fine but personnally i dont have 50-100 dollars to spare just to block some roads for a drive that everyone could take for free. Yes it would be neat without everyone having to get split by traffic and traffic lights. But the just meet and drive for a few years same show same route would show the true interest of members whe it comes down to actually showing up and doing the drive. You can get 100 yays then only fifty people show up. This would give some key planners an idea of if it would be worth tryig to organize the cost and work of shutting roads down. Everyone is always all for everything till plans change, or its to cold or its rainy. A few years of just meeting and going would allow interest to build and a better preview of what it could be like.
