I was invited to a non profit Breast Cancer awareness event last night called Fashion A Cure, which was put together by a bunch of people to raise money and showcase some of their work. A good friend of mine was displaying her clothing and I offered to take pictures of her stuff for free. I took over 400 pictures in the end and got some great shots to add to my portfolio as well as gain some recognition. This was my first time working a runway so some of the pics are a little rough. I'm editing them now, and as soon as I have the gallery set up I'd like some feed back!

Heres a sample:

I hope you like what you see so far and that you'll enjoy the rest!

I'm just shooting with a Canon Rebel Xt DSLR w/ a Sigma 17-70mm lens.

Heres the first half: Keep in mind this is my first time, and also just one persons line of clothing.

Maybe this is just me but shouldn't you be shooting at the same level as them instead of an upward shot?

They don't call it the "Photographer Pit" for nothing  From what I've seen the Video Cameras get priority for level ground and the photographers get to crawl all around the runway. There were a few other people there as well so you have to compete for good space. Me personally I like the wide low angle.

the shot of the white dress is great. Try to adjust it so the white isn't so blown out if you can to get more detail

Very cool Alex.

Is there a rule against models smiling? I mean, they are hot chicks getting paid some serious bank to take twenty steps and remembering to turn around before going off the end of the stage. Just the thought of making that much money for doing absolutely nothing would put a grin on my face.

They eat more than Triscuits, if that was all they ate they wouldn't have the energy to puke enough to stay so skinny. :p
