Any idea when they are supposed to hit the dealerships? I heard early Feb. Now i am hearing April-May.

Original date was supposed to be March 1st, but due to a problem with a now bankrupt supplier who is/was holding thier tooling equipment hostage, they pushed production back a month, so now expect to see it late March, early April

Thats why GM has so many problems. That car should have been out awhile ago. Now it's delayed even further. Even Ford and Chrysler got the Mustang and Challenger out way faster. Oh well!

I think characterizing it as the equipment being "held hostage" is a little misleading. The company in question didn't actually own the tooling that GM's stuff was set up on. It was bought with a large loan from the bank that, as it turns out, was the straw that broke that financial camels back. Really it wasn't theirs to release and everyone had to sit around and see how the bank was going to dispose of the parts and property of the company.

Then again, this is what happens when someone wins a contract after they have chapter 11'ed and took protection for reorganization with in the last 10 years. Gotta wonder who is putting the money in which bank and how mch is left for the bills.

As far as I know it is all sorted out now and back on track.

The Camaro was built all new from the chassis up...the new Mustang is nothing more than a refresh, and the Challenger is just a re-bodied Charger / 300 / Magnum.

I would much rather see them take their time to get the car right, then rush it to production and have many people be disappointed with it.

Wrong. Everyone is in trouble GM just had less money to hold themselves over.
Camaro was never delayed, this would be the first and only delay. Considering that this platform was redeveloped and designed, shipped and tooled for a North American plant in the middle of a massive product revamp in 2.5 years is pretty damn good.
Ford and Chrysler took longer to get thier products out.
The LX platform was out in 2004, and we didnt see a coupe till late 08, and only 1/3 of the model line up.
Ford was working on the S197 since Camaro got an LS1.

So, with that said, Camaro will still own both.

as long as the outer tie rod ends hold up to the massive wheels. unlike chryslers crap

Actually, one of the small revisions for Camaro's Zeta 2 over G8's "Zeta 1" platform is larger tie rod ends as well as radius arms and stronger lower ball joints...yes, two lowers.
And to the 4 G8 owners on this site, they are a direct swap over to Zeta 1. Ill let you know when the Duralast/Moog pn comes up :)

Is there still going to be a Z28 or has that been canned. I saw in Super Chevy somebody is building new 69 Yenko's. Guess the family approved. Would be nice to have a 2010 or 2011 Yenko huh?

CARS, Inc. is building the 69 Yenko 'continuations' IMO screw them. then family does not own rights to the name, it appears.

5th gen Z28 is rumored to be the big dog (LS7, 9, etc) in 2011, but who the hell knows. No announcement yet. And today's signing ramping up CAFE standards may have killed it anyway.

The Camaro team understands the importance of a Z28 model, but what the Z28 will be is apparently under review.
Will it be a big honkin LSA powerd model with bigger brakes, wheels and tighter suspension?
Or will it be a lighter, slightly more powerful verson of the SS getting better braking power, tighter suspension, seats, and some other things.

To put things in perspective, the current GT500 does 0-60 in the same time it takes the new Camaro SS, down 100hp vs the Super Mustang.
The new GT500 that gets the KR's performance spike puts it down in a little less...but there is a 10k price gap.

I guess I sort of blew his cover, but recently.
I can just imagine the look on the faces of the people at work.

I doubt it'll be the LS9, way too out there. But no Z28 until at least next year, which works fine for me.. Hell, they can push it back to 2012 for all I care ;)
