Hey folks. I'm looking for a 12 bolt with 3.90 gears for my '94 Z28 A4. That's what I'd like, anyhow. I'll also take a 4.10 gear setup, too.
I'll also consider a 9", same gear options. Basically, anything stronger than the 4.10 gear torsen 10 bolt with the Summit brace cover that's under my car now. I'd be willing to trade this rear + cash if you need one to put under the car.
The closer to NJ the better to avoid shipping. I can come pick up, within reason.
Also: Hello! Name's Keith. I'm in Hackettstown, about 7 miles from Island Dragway.

Howdy neighbor. What color is your car? I'm like 5 min from you

It's red. Here's a pic:

It's got the front plate bracket on it now, as the Great Meadows police have no sense of humor. I've got to weld in some converters and get a good inspection sticker. I've got the converters, now I just have to find the time to weld 'em in.
Speedster - I was hoping to find one that didn't cost a bazillion dollars.
Seriously, though. I'm on the fence about it. Last time I was at the track, the car ran a 13.13 @ 104 with a 1.7 60'. That was with dead-ass stock valve springs and rockers. Now it's got hotcam springs and 1.6 rockers, and the car pulls a *lot* harder up top.
But from what I've been gathering, the better the 60' gets, the more likely that the rear is going to go *boom*. I'd love to put a set of heads and a cam into the motor, but then I figure the rear is a definite gone job. So I can either make the car faster and probably blow up the rear, or put a better rear in the car and enjoy 13.0 - 12.90 with a car that shouldn't break.

Haven't driven the car around much lately thanks to the snow and salt. Be sure it'll be around once the weather warms up!
Besides, I just moved here about a year and a half ago. Give me some time. :)

You think so? Because, truth be told, I'd rather put some heads on it, stab a cam in and go faster. :burnout:

:wavey: welcome aboard! I'm originally from h-town but moved all of 10 miles away last year. I'm still there just about daily; my parents live by the hospital and I work at island. Strangely enough, most of the independence cops don't bother me but I've gotten hassled by my share of hackettstown guys. Hope to see ya around! :-)
Edit: btw, with an auto, your rear will last longer and to quicker 60' times because it doesn't take a hard of a hit as a manual. Unless of course you're driving around doing neutral drops, then this doesn't apply. I wouldn't exactly take MY advice on how not to break things (see my user title for details) but it's food for thought.

Yeah, I've heard that the auto will keep the rear together longer.
Gonna get a price on a head and cam package, and track down the details on a 9" setup someone e-mailed me about.
Unless the 9" is a real steal, I'm going to leave the 10 bolt in place and cross my fingers.
I want to make the car faster, after all. :)

Like I said, mine still lives, and although as pointed out I don't "race" the car, I sure don't baby it either.....

Hahaha - You offering to do it for free?! :)
Hey, Diva - Any guidelines on a good machine shop around the area? Looking into a valve job for a set of stock aluminum heads after I 'massage' them a bit.

 ill store it for free til you can tow it ;)
all the good machine shops have closed or moved that are local. there's some places east of here, ill see what i can find out. its been a long time since i had any work done on any chevy's, most of my people are mopar-centric. I would also suggest using one of the site sponsors, as they offer members great deals, even if there's some travel involved.

Hah! I blow it up at Island and you can bet I'll take you up on that. :)
Sorry to hear that about the local shop situation. I figured with Island being, you know, right here, that there would be some decent local shops.
Looks like I'll be traveling. Or mailing. One or the other.
