my girl has an 86 camaro 2.8fi i changed the battery, alt, plugs and wires , coil, and im going to change the starter today , i dont think that its an electrical problem but when i start the car it revs high ad turns of a couple times till it seems to heat up enough to stay on but not enough to stablize itself. once it stays on it revs high then its about to cut off then it revs high again. it pretty much does that till i warms up . just wanted to know qwhat it is so the neigbors wont think that its me reving it 5 in the moring to warm it up before i go to work . any ideas?

are the plugs in the right firing order. also to me it sounds like a vac hose is leaking or knocked off. is it throwing any codes on the check engine light. also you disconnected the battery, drive it for like 15 min. shut off. then restart. see if that works. ecm may have to learn and set its self.

Clean the throttle body. I'm guessing it all started after the battery went dead:nod: If that doesn't take car of all of it, adjust the base idle so you read about 15 on IAC counts(using a scan tool) at a hot idle in park/neutral. You'll need to reset TPS voltage to .42-.46 if you adjust the base idle. Set the base idle properly before TPS adjustment.

well it only does it when its cold and it does it less now . the check engine light was on till i took out the bulb. i dont hav an obd1 scan tool to mess with so i guess it will have to stay like that for now. and i clean the throttle body every couple of months
