All vehicles are required to pass NHRA safety inspection as well as meet all New Jersey requirements. All of the classes below run on a sportsman tree and are handicapped. Super Pro: This is the fastest and most advanced class at Island Dragway. The e.t. (1/4 mile time) range is 7.00-11.99 seconds. This class allows the use of electronics for the purpose of launching the car. This class sees a variety of cars from dragsters to full bodied cars. Payout is based on car count.
Pro: This is without a doubt the most popular class. The e.t. range is from 9.00-17.99 seconds. The use of electronic devices for the purpose of gaining a starting line advantage (ie delay boxes, 2-steps, transmission brakes, etc.) is expressly prohibited. At Island Dragway, dragsters are not allowed to compete in this class. Payout is based on car count.
Street Eliminator: This is a class designed more for the performance enthusiast. The rules help to keep the costs down to compete. All vehicles must be street appearing, have mufflers and run with DOT approved tires on all 4 corners. As in Heavy, no electronics are allowed. The e.t. range is 11.50-19.99 seconds. Payout is $100 to win, based on a minimum 8 car field.
Trophy: E.T. range is 10.00-19.99 seconds. No electronics are permitted. Winners receive a trophy and cash, depending on size of field.
Bike/Sled: This class is open to all 2 wheelers and snow mobiles. It is a no electronics class. E.T. range is 7.00-16.99 seconds. Nitrous is permitted. Winner and runner-up receive a trophy and cash.
Jr. A: Junior dragsters age 8-12 years
Jr. B: Junior dragsters age 13-17
