Not sure how i feel about this. I dont know if I like that there recycling such a well known name plate.
The trim is a little ugly. I hope there will be more options.

I wasn't to thrilled about it at the Philly show. Hamburger from SLP was explaining about it.. He said there will be only about 300 in production.
Not my cup of coffie..
But I do have some good news about the Camaro and SLP! We did ask him if he would work again on the Camaro. His words, " I am not allowed to talk about it" That is the only thing I wanted to hear!
So there is def something cookn for the Camaro...:naughty:

its will be a cold air intake, and exhaust, and within a month of them having an exhaust someone will be out with a cheaper better sounding and better fitting exhaust, just like on the ls1 cars

GM will have performance parts avaliable at the dealer such as intake, exhaust and headers for the Camaro. What is SLP gonna do slap there name on those parts and charge even more for them.

It is a cold air intake, SUPER CHARGER, special paint job, brakes, and exhaust. 500hp and big brakes is what it all boils down to.
The part that I can't make any sense out of is that the super charger will not be sold as a catalog item. They only plan to put it on the Firehawks and not offer it as a catalog item or package for the G8.
SLP is also not commenting officially on anything that is coming for the new Camaro yet.

G8 has nothing to do with the Grand Prix. The Pontiac line up has been moving towards a more european style letter-number system for a while. ie: G5, G6, and the coming soon G3 are not other iterations of the Grand Prix

the first g8 concept
the g8 replaced the grand prix in as its 8th generation, just as the g6 replaced the grand am as the 6th generation
g3 is just a misfit

g3 is an aveo
g5 is a cobalt
it was up on ls1tech awhile back too...seems hamburger commented on there that the GTX was some sort of package with castrol gtx oil such as the comp t/a's were with the tires. my feeling is that they dropped the ball and dragged the hawk through the mud with the rebadging of a legend. just shows that creativity is gone and merchandising trumps.
whats wrong with SLP G8. sounds good to me.

Wow, dregs from the past. That concept came out before the last body evolution of the GP and it was still front wheel drive.
The G8 is a completely different vehicle and shares nothing in name or function with any GP ever built.

i dont like the rebadge either. anything firebird should be left dead if they have no plans to rebuild one. leave it alone. i cant believe that they could'nt think of another name.

I think that concept was supposed to be AWD...I remember drooling over it for a few moments in time

Why think of a whole new image to market when you already have a recognizable name and logo?
I don't understand why so many people are opposed to a real performance car using the name again. This isn't a 4th gen with a hood and a warmed over sticker package, this is an actual performance increase in power, handling, and stopping. If anything I would consider a 4th gen Firehawk more of a faker than the G8

same nose set up
and i know it was the current g8, i meant how the g8 name was used with the grand prix
its obviously not a coincident, email gm, google...the g8 replaced the grand prix
dont know why you guys are arguing about this with me, its a stated fact
on a side note, the axleback slp sells for the g8, its $418...all it is is straight pipes and tips, pay 80 bucks at your local shop and you have the same thing lol

the G8 replaced the grand prix, doesn't mean it is one.
the five hundred replaced the taurus, that doesn't mean it's a taurus.

thats not the best example to use, because in fact the ford 500 is a rebadged taurus. ford was trying to shake the taurus styling image and used the 500 nameplate from the past which was a complete whiff beings the newer generations have no clue it was an old name. they have since gone back and renamed the 500 the taurus
think you could have found a little bigger picture?

The 4th gen Firehawks were too pricey new I agree, but you did get more than a hood...2002 base package offered the high flow induction system for a total of 345hp compared to 325 in the WS6 and a better flowing exhaust, and the optional package offered the Bilstein shocks and Auburn differential.
I wouldn't say the 4th gen Hawks were groundbreaking like the '92, but you still got a bump in performance. And anything said about the Firehawk then could be said about the Camaro SS of the same years.
