this is probably going to start a debate .. again.
M1 is the worst oil you can buy. i wouldnt use it in a lawnmower. the only reason it gets press is marketing, pure and simple. the worst conventional oil is better then M1. i gave away my last 10 qts because id never use it again.

Everybody is going to give a different opinion.
The best motor oil is one that has a decent life and will protect your engine well. Just about every off the shelf oil will do this. In my opinion, engines with oil problems don't fail because of crappy oil, they do because of oil starvation.

i didnt claim it to be the best, i just said thats what i like, i think it depends on application and personal preference, im sure its all the same stuff comes from the same ground sold to us by the same arabs

Amsoil synthetic
The viscosity depends on how the engine was built, what bearings were used and what the clearances are. Also the way the car gets driven and where/when makes a difference as well.

that is the place to ask about oil. there are people on there with degrees in the field rather than people with opinions.

RP 10w30.
But I think that if you are changing your oil every 3k miles, whatever oil you use should be fine.

I used to run mobil 1 then switched to royal purple. The valvetrain is noticeably quieter with RP, and oil pressure was better at idle.
RP 5w30 !

engine clearances, spring pressure, lifter type, etc..etc....etc...all play a role in picking the right weight and brand oil. i personally use and now sell brad penn. for all apps. if u can get a hold of an oil comparison chart u will see that brad penn is low moly and high zinc, which makes for the perfect oil. royal purple, and amsoil are also a good chice.
