for my laptop. i will always be running AC power so power levels arent an issue. My Athreos(sp?) internal card works fine but i need a greater range. i just barely pick up 1 if any bars of signal from the available networks when i have my laptop on top of my bunk. Is a G wireless adapter better? any that stand out as the best. Im looking for just a USB one... suggestions????

My internal one on mine works good but maybe you need on with a small antenna. If you have a open slot that would be best IMO.

Have you tried upgrading drivers? It may increase efficiency and is free.

don't don't don't get a USB stick unless you plan on using an auxilllary antenna. Get a mini pci-e or PCMCIA depending on what kind of laptop you have

btw B/G have the same range... you'd have to get one with N (and have an N compatible router) to get increased range. Look at Orinoco cards such as their gold card. Not the cheapest card you can find but they are hailed as some of the best wireless cards.

SmokingSS - as long as you're not running an IBM think pad take Jerseyboyy up on his offer - those are pretty decent cards.
