what does everything think of this? its just a rough sketch i drew up the other day, and im not sure of all the placement details and such yet but its close to what i want. the bullet is not part of it, but its the start of a different tattoo i want.

i'd go old school for something like that. i mean, it's definitely a traditional tattoo and whichever artist you decide on will most likely throw his own flavor on it, but for something like that i would stay away from things that would 'date' the tattoo - like those flames.

kind of like this:
http://imagecache2.allposters.com/images/pic/PYREU/PP31348~Ace-Of-Spades-Posters.jpg

as for the weapon and the projectile, i would rely on true pictures of them - otherwise it comes out looking cartoonish and that is miles away from what you are trying to project (i think).

good luck with it. and try to stay away from sensitive areas of the body where constant, sustained needle contact would be the result (all of that black will send you up the wall). just my opinion, you understand.

If you don't have a tattoo guy you go to already, and don't mind driving, I have a friend that does excellent work in Mantua (near Depford).

Looks great Doug! I like the M14 at the bottom combined with the Ace card Jim posted would be a killer idea. To bad the Marine Corp just changed their tattoo policy, talk about lame.

To bad the Marine Corp just changed their tattoo policy, talk about lame.

what'd they change it to? no sleeves? nothing on skin visible when you're wearing your uniform? or are they saying no new ink? that would be lame. tattoos and the marine corp go hand in hand (almost like getting foreign ink while on ship in the navy).

yeah i might not get the flames....and this will be used mostly for reference. my other tattoo is full of detail, the eagle looks almost real in black and white.

Basically no sleeves / half sleeves that you can see when wearing standard PT T-Shirt & Shorts. Obviously anyone who has them now will be grandfathered in, but their current ink will be photographed and documented, and it cannot be added to.

yeah i had to get my current one page 11'd. which is like a "waiver" type of thing i guess you can call it. page 11s can be bad as well, but for this purpose they use them to document tattoos and it goes in your SRB (service record book).

and like Justin said, pretty much if you can see it while wearing PT shorts and a t-shirt, you cannot get it.

It's a semi moto tat. Looks good though.

DevilDougWS6

haha, how is that a motto tat? motto would be like an EGA, or a huge "USMC" across your back. my motto tattoo is my bald eagle, cross, and small USMC lettering underneath.

That's why I said semi-moto. Would you prefer if i said quasi-moto.
