I GOT A NEW JOB!!!
Exactly 3 weeks from the day I was laid off I was made the offer and I accepted. I'm the new Marketing Communications Specialist at Ricoh Americas. For the last 5 years since I graduated college I had to work crappy assistant jobs. Finally I got something worthwhile. The pay rocks. They're giving me a 40% increase over my previous salary. Sorry if I sound like I'm bragging, but man this feels good

What does a Farmer need another job for? You would think that farming would be a full time job.
Marketing Comm job huh? Need any hard working employees?

It may be different from company to company, but I'll be doing a lot with coordinating and executing advertising and PR initiatives.

Lol, yeah it's tempting to want to say "I'm buying!" for everything right now. But I was actually underpaid at my last job, so I think now I'm pretty much where I should be for someone my age with the years of experience I have. I'm going to use this opportunity to really load up on my savings and IRA.
But thanks everyone. If anything it goes to show you there are places that are still hiring and doing well in light of the economic circumstances. I thought I was going to be without a job for much longer than this, and I was looking before I got laid off so that might of helped me get something quicker. But I didn't expect to find something this good. I really lucked out.

Yes, the company is in Fairfield so it's a much easier commute. No more having to drive into NY and then back into NJ to get to a town that's in the same county as me

Ted, it might not hurt to send your resume there. It's a very big company, like 500+. I'm sure a company that size has a big Accounting department. They're actually in West Caldwell (said Fairfield by mistake before).
