I had a car painted by Maaco in the 80s. It was all prepped...just needed primer and paint. They painted it all right...but no primer was added. I found out later because the guy I sold it to chipped the paint...saw all the work under it.

That's just wrong...

SOME Maacos can do a decent job but you need to do most of the prep work yourself and you will pay much more than the $199 Ambassador paint job. Most of their stuff is a scuff-and-spray or something along those lines. Visible panels only- no door jambs or anything like that.

Its actually 100.00 bucks for them to prep the car, if you want to do it yourself they sell a $30-40 kit.

Maybe I was unclear. If you want a nice job, you need to do a lot of the prep work yourself.
