Not long. I lasted like 10 seconds before it knocked me out, I woke up in the recovery room across the hallway, and talked like a retard for a few minutes, then was fine. They just don't allow you to drive.

i cant even remember how many times ive gotten it... its not too bad... pretty much what he said... now the pain killers are a different story... after my rotator cuff surgery i was a vegetable for like 2-3 weeks couldnt move frmo the recliner and was just in and out of consciousness for a few weeks lol

youll be groggy when its done but nothing to constitute a high. wait for the painkillers. then you can get all messed up. just dont drive and watch those percocets. i know plenty of people addicted to them

Pretty much what everyone else said. But really, it all depends on what you get. For my arm surgery, I didnt receive the traditional anesthesia. They put me to sleep and did a complete nerve block on my right arm. So basically, I was taking a nap while they reattached tendons, all while my arm was numb. That was a completely different reaction then when I had my tonsils removed (when I went under normal anesthesia), because after my arm surgery, I couldnt even stand straight for 3 or 4 days, which could have been the morphene as well... ****, after the surgery, they give you a morphene clicker that gives you an injection once every 5 or 6 minutes.... I was like pressing that clicker like Ken Jennings on Jeporardy

no high. watch the pain killers. drink plenty of fluids (the pain killers have a way of blocking things up.)

That's why I refuse to take pain killers....I remember when I was in high school I had reconstruction surgery on my feet(damn muscular dystrophy) and they had me on morphine and Valium...I was in the hospital for 5 days...I think I remember 2hrs lol.

They gave me all kinds of prescriptions to take home with me for pain(percs, Valium etc), didn't take a single dose. Even when I had to get a few staph out breaks taken care of(getting abscesses opened up sucks) they gave me percs, I still have the bottle sitting here.

WAAAAAAAY too easy to get hooked on them and since it's prescribed by the doctor it's easy to think you're not doing anything wrong.

Well I just got back from the hospital. Everything went fine. When I woke up I just kinda felt tired and the knee hurt a little bit. They gave me some Vikadine(sp?) about 3 hours ago and the knee feels a little sore. They told me that I can put weight on it as long as I can tolerate it...needless to say I wanted to walk out of the hospital on crutches but they wouldn't let me because it's protocol for me to go out in a wheelchair. I was just walking around walmart for 30 minutes pushing a carriage without a problem. Just if I'm on my feet too long I can tell it starts to swell and the pain gets a little greater. I was prescribed percocet, but will try not to take them since every1 says they are addicting. Anyway, I'll probably end up outside in a little while putting speakers in the DD, no little knee surgery is gonna slow me down :). My parents are already yelling at me for trying to do too many things, but the doctor said as long as I can handle the pain and not bend the knee too far that I'll be fine.

Yea, I'm not too worried now. Plus, it's not like I can just go out and buy these(I'm sure you could if you knew the right person). Anyway, I found out that I was prescribed Vycadine so I just took one about an hour ago. I feel a little lightheaded but that's about it, no pain. I'm going to take this as little as possible because I would like to drive. When I wake up in the morning that'll tell me the true pain I have, because right now I feel good.

When I broke my leg they knocked me out. I just remember waking up with this big black nurse standing over me and I was like WTF.
