Ready For A 350 Crate Engine, But....

I've decided to upgrade my 305 to a 350 stage II. I want to keep the stock hood and dual snorkle. What manifold and carb combinations will fit? I know its tight. Thanks,

everything from your 305 will bolt right up to the 350. it just wont be that great. you can find the whole eddlecrap kits at autozone which usually consist of a performer rpm, some chrome valve covers and maybe find a cheap eddlecrap 650 carb. the exhaust manifolds or headers (whatever you have) will bolt right up no problem.

Do you need to keep it emissions-legal? If the CCC carb is working fine, there's no reason to get rid of it. They flow around 750cfm, which is plenty for a 350. Just keep the stock carb and distributor, and swap in your crate motor underneath with a good intake manifold. Done deal. :)

A good intake won't easily fit under the stock hood though.

I have a performer intake (not an RPM or an air gap - standard performer) on my motor and with either the Q-jet or the holly 750, my 2 5/8" tall 14" round (offset to clear the large cap HEI) aircleaner smacked the underside of the hood. With the bracing cut, it just barely cleared.

Doh! I forgot about the lower hood line of the F-body vs. my G-body - we have a few extra inches of real estate to work with.

Maybe I have do do a minor cowl induction to the hood. Or, find a cowl hood. Maybe I can take the guts out of the motor mounts!

You can probably fit a Torker II manifold under there. It's a crappy manifold but it will still run.

I fit a performer rpm under the hood of my iroc with a 2" filter element with a flat base on a holley 750. The air cleaner was rubbing on the hood very slightly, but it was fine for me. Not enough to dent the lid of the filter.
