Qualifying was...umm.........odd to say the least.

Brawn's took the front row, Lewis Hamilton broke a gearbox and has to start from the back, and the Toyota's failed the rear wing/wing mount flex test and will have to make changes and start from the back.

I fell asleep so I only caught the highlights, but it looks like the new wing lay out is letting them run much closer together.

Inside GP at 1am, race coverage starts at 1:30am :)

the new design is giving the irl cars a run for ugliest thing with 4 wheels

my pick is webber, i think both brawns will have problems, massa will get second by strategy, and itll be a toss up for 3rd

I am pretty sure they do some kind of webcast on the F1 site.

I agree with everyone that the new wing configuration looks a little goofy, but I am glad to see them finally taking aero away. I think the wing and downforce heavy formulas of the have been teh biggest show stopper when it comes to close racing and passing.
I would like to see them start taking away front wing and give them some ground effects back, then we would really see them be able to race close together. You can mess up the car behinds aero, but there is no way to mess up his vacuum. lol

I think for the cars this year it will be all eyes on the Brawn. They hit something that everyone else missed and it is something big.

As far as the drivers go, I think Vettel and Hammy will be the ones to watch. Vettel seems to have really come into his own and Hammy will just do what Hammy does and drive over his head and somehow make it work in his favor.

Here is a link to the live feed, I'll be up for a few checking it out. Should be interesting to watch with all the new regulations.

These guys are driving like idiots and I can't get enough of it. It looks like the new aero rules have worked out correctly and let everyone race together.

I don't know if it is early season aggression or if these guys have gone too long without racing close to each other, but someone is gonna end up hurt the way this is going.

WTF?!?!?!?!?!?!?

That has to be the strangest ending to an F1 race I can ever remember.

They are replaying the race this afternoon, I suggest everyone who likes racing watch it. What a race.

There is also some fallout, Truly punished 25 seconds for "passing under the safety car", Vettel punished 10 grid positions for the incident with Kubica at the end of the race, and of course the pile of protests of the Brawn diffuser since the car dominated and apparently without the benefit of the "KERS" system

It didnt have the KERS stuff? I thought they all did?

NJSPEEDER

Nope, it was left up to the teams to decide. Apparently the weight of the system is enough of a detriment to ballast locating that some teams have elected against it. During the race they even mentioned one team has it on one car and not the other because of a dramatic difference in driver weights.

The technical discussion of the season will revolve around KERS and diffusers. I hope the race stewards all have lots of chill pills at their disposal, because they are gonna be put through some **** this year.

I also just read the FIA stewards findings in regards to the Toyota wing issue, Toyota said they tested the wing at double the FIA test weight and it was fine, the short sweet version of the response would be the FIA telling them that they don't know what they are doing then.

"It is suggested that Toyota F1 review and make adjustments to their in house testing proceure so as to avoid any future false positives leaving them afoul of the sporting regulations"

Is that the nicest worded "You're an *******" you have ever read or what? bahahahhaa

isn't it because they're deciding the champion strictly on wins now?

couldnt of been more off with my pics lol, webber was out lap 1 and both ferrari's were parked by the end of the race. vettel was fast all day, and he didnt have the "different" rear diffuser or kers, but did take himself and kubica out so didnt turn out to well now that they gave him a 10 spot penalty next week. and i cant believe they penalized truli and took him off the podium, hopefully the appeal works

brawn is just amazing, he just proved that he can make any team a winning team.

hopefully ferrari can pull themselves together and race well next week

I had to look it up to remember the race you were talking about, I remember that. Only time I can remember Schumi completely losing his cool, and I think he was justified.

2010

I don't think the points will end up going to the only wins count idea ever. It is pretty obvious what they would do, build cars and parts that are one race flyers and win every other week. If you time it right and you have one of the top teams you can sweep the season and take turns winning while you are at it.

Kind of a late start, but would anyone be interested in an F1 pick 'em pool? I was in a NASCAR pool years ago that worked like this, you get 1 pt for each position in from of the rear of the grid your pick qualifies, you then get however many points your winning pick earns for the day, and you can not pick the previous events winner/pole witter for the respective awards.

Anyone interested?

true, i hope they dont either, you also wouldnt have to race every race either
