i know it belongs in tech but i need opinions quick...I found what im guessing is oil in the coolant in my cadillac.///this is usually caused by the head gaskets going bad right?

or a cracked head.

but head gasket is prolly the most common reasoning for it.

It is most likely the headgasket, that is a common problem amongst Northstar engines and is extremely hard to replace, trust me im going through the same thing right now lol. You could try something called thermagasket, just google it, but it didn't work for me so i would just start looking to sell it.

What year is your cadillac? Are you sure its not trans fluid? If its anywhere from 96-98 just look for a new engine. When the head gaskets go on Northstars it's usually not the gasket itself, the threads in the block for the head bolts pull out which causes the gasket to leak. And it's usually the rear head for some reason. GM released a thread insert kit (similar to heli coils) that your supposed to repair it with. But they usually don't work very long.

The other year engines do the same thing but not as common as the 97's
